Note de contenu : 1. Aperçu sur les modèles numériques de terrain

microscopy (SEM). In this thesis the following topics are considered:
Fusion of images: SEM allows us to acquire images from a given sample using different modalities. The purpose of these studies is to analyze the interest of fusion of information to improve the multimodal SEM images acquisition. We have modeled
and implemented various techniques of image fusion of information, based in
particular on spatial regression theory. They have been assessed on various
datasets.
Spatial classification of multivariate image pixels: We have proposed a novel approach for pixel classification in multi/hyperspectral images. The aim of this technique is to represent and efficiently describe the spatial/spectral features of multivariate images. These multi-scale deep descriptors aim at representing the content of the image while considering invariances related to the texture and to its geometric transformations.
Spatial dimensionality reduction: We have developed a technique to extract a feature space using morphological principal component analysis. Indeed, in order to take into account the spatial and structural information we used mathematical morphology operatorsNote de contenu : I- Introduction

[Termes IGN] température de surface de la merRésumé : (Auteur) Sea surface temperature (SST) plays a vital role in the Earth's atmosphere and climate systems. Complete and accurate SST observations are in great demand for forecasting tropical cyclones and projecting climate change. Satellite remote sensing has been used to retrieve SST globally, but missing values and biased observations impose difficulties on practical applications of these satellite-derived SST data. Conventional spatial statistics methods such as kriging have been widely used to fill the gaps. However, when such conventional methods are used to analyze a massive satellite data set of size n, the inversion of the n × n covariance matrix may require O(n3) computations, which make the computation very intensive or even infeasible. The fixed rank kriging (FRK) performs dimension reduction through multiresolution wavelet analysis so that it can dramatically reduce the computation cost of various kriging methods. However, the FRK cannot directly be used for incomplete data over spatially irregular regions such as SSTs, and the potential bias in the satellite data is not addressed. In this paper, we construct a data-driven bias-correction model for the correction of the bias in satellite SSTs and develop a robust FRK (R-FRK) method so that the dimension reduction can be used to the satellite data in irregular regions with missing data. We implement the bias-correction model and the R-FRK to the level-3 mapped night Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer SSTs. The accuracy of the resulting predictions is assessed using the colocated drifting buoy SST observations, in terms of mean bias (bias), root-mean-squared error, and R squared (R2). The spatial completeness is assessed by the availability of ocean pixels. The assessment results show that the spatially. [Termes IGN] précision infrapixellaireRésumé : (Auteur) Due to rapid changes on the Earth's surface, it is important to perform land cover change detection (CD) at a fine spatial and fine temporal resolution. However, remote sensing images with both fine spatial and temporal resolutions are commonly not available or, where available, may be expensive to obtain. This paper attempts to achieve fine spatial and temporal resolution land cover CD with a new computer technology based on subpixel mapping (SPM): The fine spatial resolution land cover maps (FRMs) are first predicted through SPM of the coarse spatial but fine temporal resolution images, and then, subpixel resolution CD is performed by comparison of class labels in the SPM results. For the first time, five fast SPM algorithms, including bilinear interpolation, bicubic interpolation, subpixel/pixel spatial attraction model, Kriging, and radial basis function interpolation methods, are proposed for subpixel resolution CD. The auxiliary information from the known FRM on one date is incorporated in SPM of coarse images on other dates to increase the CD accuracy. Based on the five fast SPM algorithms and the availability of the FRM, subpixels for each class are predicted by comparison of the estimated soft class values at the target fine spatial resolution and borrowing information from the FRM. Experiments demonstrate the feasibility of the five SPM algorithms using FRM in subpixel resolution CD. They are fast methods to achieve subpixel resolution CD. [Termes IGN] sorgho (céréale)Résumé : (Auteur) Geographical information systems support the application of statistical techniques to map spatially referenced crop data. To do this in the optimal way, errors and uncertainties have to be minimized that are often associated with operations on the data. This paper applies a spatial statistical approach to upscale crop yields from the field level toward the scale of Burkina Faso. Observed yields were related to the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index derived from SPOT-VEGETATION. The objective was to quantify the uncertainties at the subsequent steps. First, we applied a point pattern analysis to examine uncertainties due to the sampling network of field surveys in the country. Second, geographically weighted regression kriging (GWRK) was applied to upscale the yield observations and to quantify the corresponding uncertainty. The proposed method was demonstrated with the mapping of sorghum yields in Burkina Faso and results were compared with those from regression kriging (RK) and kriging with external drift using a local kriging neighborhood (KEDLN). The proposed method was validated with independent yield observations obtained from field surveys. We observed that the lower uncertainty range value increased by 39%, and the upper uncertainty range value decreased by 51%, when comparing GWRK with RK and KEDLN. Moreover, GWRK reduced the prediction error variance as compared to RK (20 vs. 31) and to KEDLN (20 vs. 39). We found that climate and topography had a major impact on the country’s sorghum yields. Further, the financial ability of farmers influenced the crop management and, thus, the sorghum crop yields. We concluded that GWRK effectively utilized information present in the covariate datasets and improved the accuracies of both the regional-scale mapping of sorghum yields and was able to quantify the associated uncertainty.
