[Termes IGN] similitudeRésumé : (auteur) Existing methods of spatial data clustering have focused on point data, whose similarity can be easily defined. Due to the complex shapes and alignments of polygons, the similarity between non-overlapping polygons is important to cluster polygons. This study attempts to present an efficient method to discover clustering patterns of polygons by incorporating spatial cognition principles and multilevel graph partition. Based on spatial cognition on spatial similarity of polygons, four new similarity criteria (i.e. the distance, connectivity, size and shape) are developed to measure the similarity between polygons, and used to visually distinguish those polygons belonging to the same clusters from those to different clusters. The clustering method with multilevel graph-partition first coarsens the graph of polygons at multiple levels, using the four defined similarities to find clusters with maximum similarity among polygons in the same clusters, then refines the obtained clusters by keeping minimum similarity between different clusters. The presented method is a general algorithm for discovering clustering patterns of polygons and can satisfy various demands by changing the weights of distance, connectivity, size and shape in spatial similarity. The presented method is tested by clustering residential areas and buildings, and the results demonstrate its usefulness and universality. [Termes IGN] zone polaireRésumé : (auteur) Spatial leakage is a major limitation for quantitative interpretation of satellite gravity measurements from the gravity recovery and climate experiment (GRACE). Using synthetic data to simulate ice mass changes in the Amundsen Sea Embayment and Antarctic Peninsula, we analyze quantitatively the effects of a limited range of spherical harmonics (SH) coefficients and additional filtering, which in combination can significantly attenuate signal amplitudes. We present details of a forward modeling algorithm and show that it is capable of removing these biases from GRACE estimates. Examples show how to implement the method by constraining locations of presumed mass changes, or leaving these locations unspecified within a continental region. Our analysis indicates that leakage effects from far-field mass signals (e.g., terrestrial water storage change and glacial melting over other continents) on Antarctic mass rate estimates appear to be negligible. However, leakage from long-term ocean bottom pressure change in the surrounding Antarctic Circumpolar Current regions may bias Antarctic mass rate estimates by up to 20 Gigatonne per year (Gt/year). Experiments based on proxy GRACE measurement noise indicate that the effects of GRACE spatial noise on estimated Antarctic mass rates via constrained and unconstrained forward modelings are ∼5 and 15 Gt/year, respectively. [Termes IGN] transportRésumé : (auteur) Existing works on moving objects mainly focus on a single environment such as free space and road network, and do not investigate the complete trip for humans who can pass several environments, e.g., road network, pavement areas, indoor. In this paper, we consider multiple environments and study moving objects with different transportation modes, also called generic moving objects. We aim to answer a new class of queries supporting three kinds of conditions: temporal, spatial, and transportation modes. To efficiently provide the result, we propose an index structure called TM-RTree, which takes into account the feature of moving objects in different environments and has the capability of managing objects on not only temporal and spatial data but also transportation modes. This property is not maintained by existing indices for moving objects. Different cases on transportation modes are supported. Correspondingly, several algorithms are developed. The TM-RTree and related algorithms are developed in a real DBMS to have a practical and solid result for applications. In the experiment, we conduct the performance evaluation using extensive datasets and compare the proposed technique with the other two competitors, demonstrating the efficiency and significant superiority of our solution in various settings. Its use in large mammal research for size and/or mass estimation has proven extremely beneficial. Recent photogrammetric technique advancements have improved its applicability in the field, although some analytical components remain time consuming. The use of automated coded targets, associated with commercially available software, was evaluated to simplify photogrammetric analysis without compromising its practicality. The effects of variable target size and shape, lighting conditions, number of photographs, photograph target coverage and project processing time were assessed. Augmenting a published photogrammetric field technique by including coded targets greatly reduced analysis time. The simplified method is attractive for use by a wider range of both specialist and non-specialist users for applications within the animal photogrammetry field.
