[Termes IGN] téléphonie mobileRésumé : (auteur) Fine-grained inner-annual population data are instrumental in climate change response, resource allocation, and epidemic control. However, such data are currently scarce due to the lack of human-related indicators with both high temporal resolution and long-term coverage that can be used in the process of population spatialization. Here, we estimate monthly 1-km gridded population distribution across China in 2015 using time-series mobile phone positioning data. We construct a hybrid downscaling model to map the gridded population by incorporating random forest and area-to-point kriging. The estimated monthly population products appear to capture inner-annual population variations, especially during special periods, such as the festival, holiday, and short-term labor flow period, which are characterized by large-scale population movements. Additionally, compared with census data, the hybrid model-based results obtained exhibit higher consistency than popular global population products across all spatial extents. Our monthly 1-km data products for the population distribution across China in 2015 provide a credible dataset that can be employed in studies aimed at accurate population-dependent decisions. These sensors are subject to various issues (misuse, malfunctions, battery problems, etc) that are likely to cause data quality problems. These quality problems may have a considerable impact on the reliability of analytical studies. In this work, we address the problem of data quality evaluation and improvement in mobile crowd-sensing environments. Our work is focused on the data completeness quality dimension. We introduce a multi-dimensional model to represent the data coming from the sensors in this context, and then present the different facets of data completeness inspired by the model. We propose quality indicators capturing different facets of completeness along with their corresponding quality metrics. We also propose an approach to improve data completeness by extending two existing data imputation techniques, SVDImpute and KNNImpute, with information about the sensor quality. Our experiments show that our quality-aware imputation approach improves the accuracy of the imputation achieved by the original techniques. Previous works using call detail records (CDRs) tend to focus on modeling the spatial and temporal patterns of human mobility, not paying much attention to the semantics of places, thus failing to model and enhance the understanding of the motivations behind people’s mobility. In this paper, we applied a methodology for identifying individual users’ routine locations and propose an approach for attaching semantic meaning to these locations. Specifically, we used circular sectors that correspond to cellular antennas’ signal areas. In those areas, we found that all contained points of interest (POIs), extracted their most important attributes (opening hours, check-ins, category) and incorporated them into the classification. We conducted experiments with real-world data from Coimbra, Portugal, and the initial experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology to infer activities in the user’s routine areas. [Termes IGN] téléphonie mobileRésumé : (auteur) Participatory landslide inventory mapping using the Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) mobile app is a promising method to produce a landslide inventory map. The aim of this research is to describe the development and implementation of the VGI mobile app for participatory landslide inventory mapping. The architecture VGI mobile app is developed on the basis of Free Open-source Software for Geospatial Application server-client software to ensure reproducibility and flexibility, and to reduce cost. Anyone can reproduce, modify, and share the code, which suggests improvement in the collective ability to use, prepare, and landslide inventory update. Landslide inventory using VGI mobile app shows that the tool and method successfully map landslides in the landslide prone area (Magelang Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia) with fairly high levels of effectiveness and convenience. Magelang Regency, one of the landslide prone areas in Java, is located in the intermountain basin surrounded by Menoreh Mountain, Merapi, Merbabu, Suropati-Telomoyo Complex, and Sumbing Volcano. In this study, landslide inventory mapping using VGI mobile app was applied in Magelang Regency by 17 volunteers from BPBD (Regional Agency for Disaster Management) Magelang Regency for three days. Landslides area occurred from 2017 to 2019 were properly identified and mapped by the volunteers. The sizes of landslides varied from 5.2 m2 to 4,632.5 m2, and the average was 208.2 m2. A team of volunteer was able to map 7-10 landslides per day. Participatory mapping using VGI mobile app reduces the time in transferring field data to a GIS database, in contrast to conventional participatory landslide inventory mapping. VGI mobile app allows users to provide new geographical landslide data, share landslide data rapidly, ensure consistency of landslide data, and improve accessibility of landslide data. The use of the VGI mobile app for participatory landslide inventory mapping provides new opportunities to improve risk assessment, preparedness, and early action and warning to landslide hazard. [Termes IGN] véhicule automobileRésumé : (auteur) The COVID-19 outbreak and associated measures taken had an enormous impact on society as well as a disruptive, but not necessarily negative, impact on mobility. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management received the most recent insights from the Dutch Mobility Panel (DMP) on a weekly basis. These insights were used to monitor the travel behaviour and to analyse changes in the behaviour of different groups and usage of modes of transport during COVID-19. The analysis shows an enormous decrease in travel at the beginning of the implementation of the so-called ‘intelligent’ lockdown and gradual increase again towards comparable levels as before this ‘intelligent lockdown, although the distribution over time, motives and used modes has changed. It becomes clear that not everyone needs to travel during peak hours and commuter travel is also not the main reason for the increase in car usage. Furthermore, cycling has shown to be an alternative option for travellers and public transport is hardly used anymore. If it is possible to sustain the lower level of car usage and integrate public transport as an important alternative for travel again, the COVID-19 impact on mobility could have a substantial remaining positive impact on mobility.
