[Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (auteur) The heavy reliance of real-time precise point positioning (RTPPP) on external satellite clock products may lead to discontinuity or even failure in time-critical applications. We present an alternative approach of real-time undifferenced precise positioning (RUP) that, by combining satellite clock estimation and precise point positioning based on the extended Kalman filter, is independent of external satellite clock corrections. The approach is evaluated in simulated real time with the assistance of a variable number of IGS multi-GNSS stations located between 1359.7 and 4852.5 km from the users. The results show that even with a single auxiliary IGS station, RUP is still feasible and able to retain centimeter-level positioning accuracy. Typically, with three auxiliary IGS stations about 2000–3000 km away, an accuracy of about 2 cm in the horizontal and 5 cm in the vertical can be achieved. The performance of RUP is comparable to that of PPP using 5-s satellite clock products and notably exhibits superior short-term precision in dealing with high-rate (1 Hz) GPS/GLONASS observations. The addition of GLONASS observations reduces the convergence time by 56.9% and improves the 3-D position accuracy by 31.8% while increasing the processing latency by a factor of about 1.6. Employing three IGS stations over 2400 km away from the epicenter, RUP is applied for the rapid determination of coseismic displacements and waveforms for the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake, yielding highly consistent results compared to those obtained from post-processed PPP in the global reference frame. We also explore its potential in facilitating real-time online services in terms of real-time precise positioning, zenith tropospheric delay retrieving, and satellite clock estimation. [Termes IGN] résolution d'ambiguïtéRésumé : (auteur) Techniques enabling precise point positioning with ambiguity resolution (PPP-AR) were developed over a decade ago. Several analysis centers of the International GNSS Service (IGS) have implemented such strategies into their software packages and are generating (experimental) PPP-AR products including satellite clock and bias corrections. While the IGS combines individual orbit and clock products as standard to provide a more reliable solution, interoperability of these new PPP-AR products must be confirmed before they can be combined. As a first step, all products are transformed into a common observable-specific representation of biases. It is then confirmed that consistency is only ensured by considering both clock and bias products simultaneously. As a consequence, the satellite clock combination process currently used by the IGS must be revisited to consider not only clocks but also biases. A combination of PPP-AR products from six analysis centers over a one-week period is successfully achieved, showing that alignment of phase clocks can be achieved with millimeter precision thanks to the integer properties of the clocks. In the positioning domain, PPP-AR solutions for all products show improved longitude estimates of daily static positions by nearly 60% over float solutions. The combined products generally provide equivalent or better results than individual analysis center contributions, for both static and kinematic solutions. [Termes IGN] teneur totale en électronsRésumé : (auteur) Long convergence time has limited the wide application of traditional precise point positioning (PPP) based on an ionosphere-free combination of dual-frequency observations. Different from the traditional PPP, the uncombined PPP method based on raw observations estimates ionospheric delays. When external ionospheric information is available, it can be applied as a constraint to help shorten the convergence time, as a result of the reduced correlation between the position and the ionospheric parameters. The receiver differential code biases (DCBs) will be a concern, however, when applying the external ionospheric information. For receiver DCBs, it is usually assumed that the biases can be absorbed by the receiver clock parameters. We have demonstrated that the receiver DCBs cannot be fully assimilated by one receiver code clock parameter because the receiver DCBs have different effects on the code and carrier phase measurements at any frequency. Additional parameters are necessary to model the receiver DCBs so that their effects on the positioning solution can be minimized. We developed an ionosphere-constrained PPP model to incorporate ionospheric total electron content (TEC) in the slant (STEC) and vertical (VTEC) when leveraging a regional network and global ionospheric maps (GIMs). Both static and kinematic experimental results show that the convergence time and the positioning accuracy can be improved significantly. Accuracies at the first epoch of 0.4 m for GIM constraints, and 0.2 m for the regional constraints, are achievable. The convergence time to 1 dm horizontal accuracy is reduced to 7.5 min at a 68% confidence level. [Termes IGN] zone équatorialeRésumé : (auteur) Ionospheric scintillation causes rapid fluctuations of measurements from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs), thus threatening space-based communication and geolocation services. The phenomenon is most intense in equatorial regions, around the equinoxes and in maximum solar cycle conditions. Currently, ionospheric scintillation monitoring receivers (ISMRs) measure scintillation with high-pass filter algorithms involving high sampling rates, e.g. 50 Hz, and highly stable clocks, e.g. an ultra-low-noise Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillator. The present paper evolves phase scintillation indices implemented in conventional geodetic receivers with sampling rates of 1 Hz and rapidly fluctuating clocks. The method is capable to mitigate ISMR artefacts that contaminate the readings of the state-of-the-art phase scintillation index. Our results agree in more than 99.9% within ± 0.05 rad (2 mm) of the ISMRs, with a data set of 8 days which include periods of moderate and strong scintillation. The discrepancies are clearly identified, being associated with data gaps and to cycle-slips in the carrier-phase tracking of ISMR that occur simultaneously with ionospheric scintillation. The technique opens the door to use huge databases available from the International GNSS Service and other centres for scintillation studies. This involves GNSS measurements from hundreds of worldwide-distributed geodetic receivers over more than one Solar Cycle. This overcomes the current limitations of scintillation studies using ISMRs, as only a few tens of ISMRs are available and their data are provided just for short periods of time.
