[Termes IGN] visualisation de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Designing usable geovisualization tools is an emerging problem in GIScience software development. We are often satisfied that a new method provides an innovative window on our data, but functionality alone is insufficient assurance that a tool is applicable to a problem in situ. As extensions of the static methods they evolved from, geovisualization tools are bound to enable new knowledge creation. We have yet to learn how to adapt techniques from interaction designers and usability experts toward our tools in order to maximize this ability. This is especially challenging because there is limited existing guidance for the design of usable geovisualization tools. Their design requires knowledge about the context of work within which they will be used, and should involve user input at all stages, as is the practice in any human-centered design effort. Toward that goal, we have employed a wide range of techniques in the design of ESTAT, an exploratory geovisualization toolkit for epidemiology. These techniques include : verbal protocol analysis, card-sorting, focus groups, and an in-depth case study. This paper reports the design process and evaluation results from our experience with the ESTAT toolkit. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Medical applications such as bedsore analysis often require 3D surface reconstruction of the human body. Major surface reconstruction techniques are based on mechanical digitizers, laser scanners and vision systems, including photogrammetry. Multi-camera systems can greatly reduce ambiguity resulting from loss of information associated with the perspective mapping of a 3D scene onto a 2D image. The authors present three and four-camera photogrammetric systems for the analysis of bedsores Numéro de notice : A2005-125 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article DOI : sans Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27263

[Termes IGN] santéRésumé : (Auteur) The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) appeared in November 2002 in China. Between March and July 2003, the virus dramatically spread, reaching 30 countries all over the world and obtaining rapidly the status of "first pandemic of the XXIth Century". Six months after its second emergence in Hong-Kong in March, more than 8500 cases have been identified, and 800 people have died from that new coronavirus. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper reports research to predict the distribution of An. minimus, a malaria vector in forest fringe areas using GIS to support precision surveys for malaria control. Because An. minimus is a forest-associated species, generalized thematic maps (1: 600 000) of forst cover, soil type, altitude, rainfall and temperature were used. Digitalization, overlaying, integration and analysis of thematic maps were done using Arc/Info 8.1 NT and Arc/View 3.2 (GIS, ESRI) software. GIS delineated favourable areas for An. minimus where the species is likely to be found, and precision survey can be conducted. Precision field surveys in selected locations of favourable/non-favourable areas were carried out. The species could be found in all location designated as a favourable area and was absent in non-favourable areas. In two districts, one where the species is reported to have disappeared in the early 1950s and the other where it was not reported in earlier surveys, GIS helped in precision surveys, and An. minimus was found. The technique can quickly cover vast and inaccessible areas and is easy to duplicate in other parts of the world to assist cost effective control of malaria. It can also delineate areas favourable for any species of flora and fauna to help precision surveys.
