[Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (auteur) A new method is described for automatically reconstructing a 3D piecewise planar model from multiple images of a scene. The novelty of the approach lies in the use of inter-image homographies to validate and best estimate planar facets, and in the minimal initialization requirements — only a single 3D line with a textured neighbourhood is required to generate a plane hypothesis. The planar facets enable line grouping and also the construction of parts of the wireframe which were missed due to the inevitable shortcomings of feature detection and matching. The method allows a piecewise planar model of a scene to be built completely automatically, with no user intervention at any stage, given only the images and camera projection matrices as input. The robustness and reliability of the method are illustrated on several examples, from both aerial and interior views. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) This paper describes an original approach and strategy for the automatic surface reconstruction of urban areas from digital aerial multiple views (across track as well as along track). The general reconstruction approach is based on a concept of multi-image matching guided from object space which provides the DSM and the corresponding orthoimage at the same time. The general idea is to match all the images at the same time with a multi-image correlation function instead of merging all elementary DSM computed on all stereopairs. This multi-image correlation function has very interesting properties, we can use very small templates (windows) in the image matching process, the correlation scores give a real reliability indicator of the matches and the false matches can be filtered with a deterministic threshold. All discarded areas are filled with a hierarchical matching strategy aiming at building the surface step by step. [Termes IGN] télédétection aérienneRésumé : (Auteur) This paper reports on progress made to link physiologically-based indicators to optical indices scaling-up from leaf level to the canopy through SAIL and Kuusk Canopy Reflectance Models (CR). Hyperspectral CASI data of 2m spatial resolution and 72 channels were collected in 1997 and 1998 deployments over twelve sites of Acer saccharum M. in Ontario (Canada). A field sampling campaign was carried out for biochemical analysis of leaf chlorophyll and carotenoid concentrations, and fluorescence along with leaf reflectance and transmittance. Leaf-level relationships obtained between optical indices and biochemical indicators were scaled-up to canopy level through CR models using input model parameters related to the canopy structure and viewing geometry at the time of data acquisition. The result is an algorithm which predicts leaf-level bioindicators from airborne hyperspectral imagery. A modeling study was carried out to determine the influence of CR on the four types of optical indices used in this study.
