[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageIndex. décimale : 33.30 Photogrammétrie numérique Résumé : (Auteur) In this dissertation, a new approach to automatic road extraction from high resolution aerial imagery taken over urban areas is developed. In order to deal with the high complexity of this type of scenes, the approach integrates detailed knowledge about roads and their context using explicitly formulated scale-dependent models. The knowledge about how and when certain parts of the road and context model are optimally exploited is expressed by an extraction strategy. It is subdivided into three levels: Context-based data analysis (Level 1) comprises the segmentation of the scene into the urban, rural, and forest area as wells as the analysis of context relations (e.g. the determination of shadow areas and the detection of vehicles). Processing continues in urban areas. To determine salient roads (Level 2) the extraction includes the detection of homogeneous ribbons as preliminary road segments in coarse scale, collinear grouping thin bright road markings in fine scale, and the construction of lanes from groups of road markings and road sides. Then, the lanes are further grouped into larger road objects, so-called road segments. During road network completion (Level 3), road segments detected in overlapping images are fused and gaps in the extraction are iteratively closed by hypothesizing and verifying connections between previously extracted road segments. To this end, local as well as global criteria exploiting the network characteristics are used. The result of network completion are roads that connect junctions or endpoints. A key feature of the presented approach is the incorporation of a scheme for self-diagnosis. With this scheme each hypothesis generated during extraction is internally evaluated so that its relevance for further processing can be assessed. This facilitates decisions inherently appearing during the extraction process. The results achieved with the approach show that the implemented system is able to extract roads in complex environments, i.e. the extraction is also possible when the appearance of roads is heavily affected by other objects. Based on an external evaluation of the results, the system is validated, and advantages but also remaining deficiencies are discussed. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The northern part of Lantau Island in Hong Kong is undergoing very rapid development following completion of the Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok on the island. This development is adjacent to a range of steeply sloping hills that experience levels of annual rainfall in the range of 2000-2400mm. Rainfall-induced landslides on this steeply sloping natural terrain are therefore potential hazards to property developments downslope. The objective of this study is to characterize the initiation process and the subsequent travel distance of the landslides resulting from recent rainstorms, by integrating aerial photogrammetry with GIS. These landslides, which occurred during the 18 July 1992 and 4-5 November 1993 rainstorms, were interpreted from sequential aerial photographs. Data on these landslides were collected to form a landslide database. Such data, together with information on geology, slope gradient, elevation, slope aspect, slope shape, and vegetation cover were entered into a Geographical Information System (GIS), to determine the geologic and geomorphologic characteristics of the landslide source and to estimate the travel distance of landslide debris. It is demonstrated that this integrated approach of GIS and aerial photogrammetry could serve as an effective means of landslide characterization. [Termes IGN] terrainRésumé : (Auteur) This paper investigates the combination of metric aerial photography and near-infrared (NIR) videography data to improve the design of field-survey sampling frameworks. Spatial data collection can contribute up to 80% of the cost of deploying a Geographic Information System (GIS) based Decision Support System (DSS). The use of remotely sensed information, field survey using differential Global Positioning System (dGPS) and geostatistical interpolation methods maximises data quality for a given rate of sampling.
Medium-format colour aerial photography and NIR videography were orthorectified to the national map base and mosaiced using ERDAS Imagine. The green and red layers of the aerial photography were combined with the NIR videography to form a false-colour composite image. Two sampling strategies were tested. The first stratified sampling on a per field basis, creating four points per hectare, randomly located within each field. The second strategy used the remotely sensed information to identify within-field variability classes for each field, using red-green difference or normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI) models. These variability classes were used as a sub-stratification framework with each class sampled at the same rate of 4 per hectare. For both strategies the sample points were generated within ESRI ArcView and were located in the field using dGPS. Maps of stone content were created using geostatistical methods and validated against samples collected on a 100 metre grid. It was concluded that combining the two image sources to create a within-field stratification framework improved the precision of the results obtained from field-survey.Numéro de notice : A2003-376 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/10106040308542285 Date de publication en ligne : 02/01/2008 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/10106040308542285 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=26456
