[Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) The Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) has resulted in the construction of the first publicly available near-global high resolution digital elevation model (DEM). The utility of this DEM, as for any geospatial data set, is a function of its quality. This paper is concerned with the assessment of SRTM accuracy and its relationship to land cover. Two methods-one raster-based and one point-based-are compared to match "finished" three-arc-second SRTM data to high precision, high accuracy surveyed elevations, as well as a corresponding DEM from the USGS National Elevation Dataset (NED). Differences between the two methodologies were not found to be significant. Error for the study site is substantially less than the mission objective, but substantially more than that for the NED. Significant overestimation of actual elevations pervades the SRTM DEM, and the overestimation is significantly higher in forested areas. This systematic error has implications both for applications employing SRTM data and for research on elevation data error modeling. [Termes IGN] TerraSAR-XRésumé : (Auteur) The along-track interferometric synthetic aperture radar (along-track InSAR) technique for mapping ocean currents at high spatial resolution from aircraft or satellites was introduced in the late 1980's. Since then, hardware and algorithms have been improved in the course of many projects and experiments. Airborne InSARs are now available for routine surveys. Current measurements from space could be demonstrated with data acquired from a Space Shuttle in february 2000. A first civilian satellite offering along-track InSAR capabilities over some longer period will become available in 2006. [Termes IGN] subsidenceRésumé : (Auteur) Satellite radar interferometry can be used to spatially monitor small vertical ground deformations. When millimeter accuracy is required, the differential interferometry technique is hampered by the ambiguity with atmospheric artifacts. It is also often difficult to obtain a precise evaluation of the kinematic evolution of ground deformations from a set of time, randomly distributed interferograms. We present the results of a least-squares approach coupled with a temporal filtering and applied to a large data set over the City of Paris. The mean deformation rate and a map of areas affected by time, non-linear deformation events are presented. We show that this approach, which provides a chronologically ordered set of phase screens, allows the retrieval of the kinematic Parameters of ground deformations as low as 1 to 2 mm per year. Subsiding areas have been detected, and their evolution in time has been quantified. Such an approach can be useful to fully characterize the kinematic evolution of ground deformations in major cities or desertic areas where large areas have a high degree of coherence and where millimeter accuracy is often required.
