[Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we present a novel domain adaptation technique aimed at providing reliable change detection maps for a series of image pairs acquired on the same area at different times. The proposed technique exploits the polar change vector analysis method and assumes that the reference data for characterizing a specific change of interest are available only for a pair of images (source domain). Then, it exploits the knowledge learned from the source domain and adapts it to other pairs of images belonging to the time series (target domains) to be analyzed. The proposed technique is able to handle possible radiometric differences among images adapting in an unsupervised way the decision rule estimated on the source domain to the target domains through variables estimated directly on the target images. The proposed approach has been applied to two data sets made up of time series of Landsat Thematic Mapper images. In one case, the change of interest is related to evolution of deforestation, while in the other case, it is related to burned area detection. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique. The research was conducted using Landsat, WorldView-2 (WV-2) and Digital Mapping Camera. Normalised difference vegetation index and normalised difference built-up index were used for establishing the relation between built-up area, vegetation cover and LST for spatial resolution of 30 m. Impervious surface and vegetation area generated from Digital Mapping Camera from Intergraph and WV-2 were used to establish the relation between built-up area, vegetation cover and LST for spatial resolutions of 0.1, 0.5 and 30 m. Linear regression models were used to determine the relationship between LST and indicators. Main contribution of this research is to establish the use of combining remote sensing sensors with different spectral and spatial resolution for two typical settlements in Vojvodina. Correlation coefficients between LST and LST indicators ranged from 0.602 to 0.768. A process-based modelling approach can account for variation in other factors affecting canopy reflectance, providing a more accurate estimate of chlorophyll content across different vegetation species, time-frames, and broader spatial extents. However, physically-based modelling studies usually use hyperspectral data, neglecting a wealth of data from broadband and multispectral sources. In this study, we assessed the potential for using canopy (4-Scale) and leaf radiative transfer (PROSPECT4/5) models to estimate leaf chlorophyll content using canopy Landsat satellite data and simulated Landsat bands from leaf level hyperspectral reflectance data. Over 600 leaf samples were used to test the performance of PROSPECT for different vegetation species, including black spruce (Picea mariana), sugar maple (Acer saccharum), trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) and jack pine (Pinus banksiana). At the leaf level, hyperspectral and simulated Landsat bands showed very similar results to laboratory measured chlorophyll (R2 = 0.77 and R2 = 0.75, respectively). Comparisons between PROSPECT4 modelled chlorophyll from simulated Landsat and hyperspectral spectra showed a very close correspondence (R2 = 0.97, root mean square error (RMSE) = 3.01 μg/cm2), as did simulated reflectance bands from other broadband and narrowband sensors (MODIS: R2 = 0.99, RMSE = 1.80 μg/cm2; MERIS: R2 = 0.97, RMSE = 2.50 μg/cm2 and SPOT5 HRG: R2 = 0.96, RMSE = 5.38 μg/cm2). Modelled leaf chlorophyll content from Landsat 5 TM canopy reflectance data, acquired from over 40 ground validation sites, demonstrated a strong relationship with measured leaf chlorophyll content (R2 = 0.78, RMSE = 8.73 μg/cm2, p Numéro de notice : A2015-691 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET/IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2015.01.008 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2015.01.008 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=78326

The fused images are expected to be characterized by the swath width of TM/ETM+ images and the spatial resolution of SPOT5 images. To this end, we first model the imaging process from a SPOT image to a TM/ETM+ image at their corresponding bands, by building an image degradation model via blurring and downsampling operations. With this degradation model, we can generate a simulated Landsat image from each SPOT5 image, thereby avoiding the requirement for geometric coregistration for the two input images. Then, band by band, image fusion can be implemented in two stages: 1) learning a dictionary pair representing the high- and low-resolution details from the given SPOT5 and the simulated TM/ETM+ images; 2) super-resolving the input Landsat images based on the dictionary pair and a sparse coding algorithm. It is noteworthy that the proposed method can also deal with the conventional spatial and spectral fusion of TM/ETM+ and SPOT5 images by using the learned dictionary pairs. To examine the performance of the proposed method of fusing the swath width of TM/ETM+ and the spatial resolution of SPOT5, we illustrate the fusion results on the actual TM images and compare with several classic pansharpening methods by assuming that the corresponding SPOT5 panchromatic image exists. Furthermore, we implement the classification experiments on both actual images and fusion results to demonstrate the benefits of the proposed method for further classification applications. [Termes IGN] température de luminanceRésumé : (auteur) There has been an increasing interest in mapping and monitoring urban land use/land cover using remote sensing techniques. However, there still exist quite a number of challenges in deriving urban extent and its expansion density from remote sensing data quantitatively. This study utilized Landsat TM/ETM+ remote sensing data to assess urban expansion and its thermal characteristics with a case study in the city of Changsha, China. We proposed a new approach for quantitatively determining built-up area, its expansion density and their respective relationship with land surface temperature (LST) patterns. An urban expansion metric was also developed using a moving window mechanism to identify urban built-up area and its expansion density based on selected threshold values. The study suggested that urban extent and its expansion density, as well as surface thermal characteristics and patterns could be identified through quantitatively derived remotely sensed indices and LST, which offer meaningful characteristics in quantifying urban expansion density and urban thermal pattern. Results from the case study demonstrated that: (1) the built-up area and urban expansion density have significantly increased in the city of Changsha from 1990 to 2001; and (2) the differences of urban expansion densities correspond to thermal effects, where a high percentage of imperviousness is usually associated with the area covered by high surface temperature.
