[Termes IGN] simulationRésumé : (Auteur) Panoramic images have increasingly interesting applications and they are extensively used for cultural heritage documentation and virtual 3D environments. Moreover, it has been proven that they can contain good metric content. This paper describes a state-of-the-art photogrammetric tool based on spherical panoramas. The fundamental photogrammetric equations are reviewed and two real applications are examined in order to illustrate its performance in terms of accuracy and efficiency. As a first step towards the automation of the orientation and restitution process, the epipolar geometry of spherical panoramic images has also been investigated. With a view to its integration in photogrammetric tools, the shape of the epipolar line is studied both in 3D space and as a 2D mapping; the results obtained with simulation data are analysed. [Termes IGN] SIG 3DRésumé : (auteur) This paper introduces a novel implementation of an online spatial registration service for the 3D GIS web-based street viewer which allows end-users to interact with different spatial data (panoramic image, laser, and open data) for accessibility diagnostics and street mobility services, and to navigate an immersive and superposed multilayer urban scene in 3D. To the best of our knowledge, there are no GIS web-based open street-view systems that propose an online spatial registration for either public or professional use. We have developed an online registration service inside the 3D GIS web-based street viewer which offers an interface to integrate many available open spatial data sources, to create superposed scenes combining different data, and to helps users to interact, measure and update 3D urban maps. [Termes IGN] texturageRésumé : (auteur) [introduction] One might wonder what can be gained from the image-laser fusion and in which measure such a hybrid system can generate automatically complete and photorealist 3D models of difficult to access and unstructured underground environments. Our research work is focused on developing a vision-based system aimed at automatically generating in-situ photorealist 3D models in previously unknown and unstructured underground environments from image and laser data. In particular, we are interested in modeling underground prehistoric caves. In such environments, special attention must be given to the main issue standing behind the automation of the 3D modeling pipeline which is represented by the capacity to match reliably image and laser data in GPS-denied and feature-less areas. In addition, time and in-situ access constraints require fast and automatic procedures for in-situ data acquisition, processing and interpretation in order to allow forin-situ verification of the 3D scene model completeness. Finally, the currently generated 3D model represents the only available information providing situational awareness based on which autonomous behavior must be built in order to enable the system to act intelligently on-the-fly and explore the environment to ensure the 3D scene model completeness. This chapter evaluates the potential of a hybrid image-laser system for generating in-situ complete and photorealist 3D models of challenging environments, while minimizing human operator intervention. The presented research focuses on two main aspects: (i) the automation of the 3D modeling pipeline, targeting the automatic data matching in feature-less and GPS-denied areas for in-situ world modeling and (ii) the exploitation of the generated 3Dmodels along with visual servoing procedures to ensure automatically the 3D scene model completeness. We start this chapter by motivating the jointly use of laser and image data and by listing the main key issues which need to be addressed when aiming to supply automatic photorealist3D modeling tasks while coping with time and in-situ access constraints. The next four sections are dedicated to a gradual description of the 3D modeling system in which we project the proposed image-laser solutions designed to be embedded onboard mobile plateforms, providing them with world modeling capabilities and thus visual perception. This is an important aspect for the in-situ modeling process, allowing the system to be aware and to act intelligently on-the-fly in order to explore and digitize the entire site. For this reason, we introduce it as ARTVISYS, the acronym for ARTificial VIsion-based SYStems. [Termes IGN] rayonnement infrarougeRésumé : (Auteur) In many close-range applications it is essential to obtain information about the geometry of the target surface as well as its chemical composition. In this study, close-range hyperspectral imaging was integrated with terrestrial laser scanning to provide mineral and chemical information for geological field studies. The spectral data was collected with the HySpex SWIR-320m sensor, which operates in the infrared spectrum between the wavelengths of 1·3 and 2·5 um. This sensor permits surfaces to be imaged with high spectral resolution, allowing detailed classification and analysis to be carried out. Photogrammetric processing of the hyperspectral imagery was achieved using an existing geometric model for rotating linear-array-based panoramic cameras. Bundle block adjustment of multiple images resulted in the registration of the spectral images in the lidar coordinate system, with a precision of around one image pixel. Although the image and control point network was not optimised for photogrammetric processing, it was possible to recover the exterior camera orientations, as well as additional camera calibration parameters. With the known image orientations, 3D lidar models could be textured with hyperspectral classifications, and the quality of the registration determined. The integration of the hyperspectral image products with the terrestrial lidar data enabled data interpretation and evaluation in a real-world coordinate system, and provided a reliable means of linking material and geometric information.
