[Termes IGN] télédétection spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) Ancillary geodata can supply information to enhance classification accuracy for a variety of remote-sensing applications. To understand the integration of different data into a knowledge-based multisource classification process, this paper evaluates the significance of geodata for the classification accuracy of a very high spatial resolution satellite image for the identification of forest types in Germany. The approach utilizes a fuzzy-logic classifier for the integration of a knowledge base, which combines spectral information with ancillary data layers. The results of the classification were used to test a method for evaluating the influence of the integration of single geodata, the effects on different classes, and the impacts of the applied rules. A microarray significance analysis (MSA) was used to evaluate the significance of the classification results, whereas an ISODATA clustering was utilized for visualizing. A sequence of 50 accuracy assessments of classifications with possible combinations of geodata and rules for the identified classes was derived. The resulting microarray of accuracy percentages of single classes and the overall classification was used for further investigation. The MSA supplies the measure of significance, called relative difference d(i). The MSA identified 11 classifications of positive significance (d(i) greater than 1.44) and three classifications of negative significance (d(i) lower than -2.87). In particular, classifications that contain all rules were rated as positive significant. [Termes IGN] télédétection spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) Despite their vital role in terrestrial ecosystem function, the distributions and dynamics of soil microbial communities (SMCs) are poorly understood. Vegetation and soil properties are the primary factors that influence SMCs. This paper discusses the potential effectiveness of remote sensing science and technologies for mapping SMC biogeography by characterizing surface biophysical properties (e.g., plant traits and community composition) strongly correlated with SMCs. Using remotely sensed biophysical properties to predict SMC distributions is extremely challenging because of the intricate interactions between biotic and abiotic factors and between above- and below-ground ecosystems. However, the integration of biophysical and soil remote sensing with geospatial information about the environment holds great promise for mapping SMC biogeography. Additional research needs involve microbial taxonomic definition, soil environmental complexity, and scaling strategies. The collaborative effort of experts from diverse disciplines is essential to linking terrestrial surface biosphere observations with subsurface microbial community distributions using remote sensing. [Termes IGN] trait de côteRésumé : (Auteur) A new approach based on Affine Invariant Feature Matching (AIFM) with a filtering technique is proposed for automatic registration of remotely sensed image in coastal areas. The novelty of this approach is an automatic filtering technique using RANdom SAmple Consensus (RANSAC) with shoreline constraint for AIFM to remove all wrong matches and simultaneously keep as many correct matches as possible. To implement it, a progressive threshold strategy (from small value to large value) is presented to determine an appropriate RANSAC threshold, in which the progressive process is guided by shoreline constraint. The proposed approach (with filtering) is compared with standard AIFM (without filtering) using two typical image pairs in coastal areas. The experimental results indicate that the proposed approach can always provide much better matching results than standard AIFM.
