Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Airborne Lidar system provides the Earth’s topography as 3D point clouds. Many algorithms have been implemented to sort out the automatic classification problem as well as the Digital Terrain Model generation (DTM). This is mainly due to the various aspects of landscapes within a global survey which can include urban, forested or mountainous areas. This paper is focused on the generation of DTM over rural areas that are composed of open fields and forests. The methodology we propose is based on the joint use of optical images and Lidar data. It aims at adapting the window size of a morphological-based filtering algorithm to the presence of vegetated areas. In this context, Lidar intensity and optical images are combined to generate a Hybrid Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (HNDVI). A vegetation mask is then calculated with HNDVI and Lidar variance information. The window size continuously varies from a predefined minimum distance to an automatically processed upper boundary. We show with conclusive results the potentiality of a full combination of Lidar data and RGB optical images for improving the generation of fine DTMs on rural environments. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) This research presents an integration of remote sensing and GIS for determining the runoff coefficient (C) recommended by the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Water Pollution Control Federation in 1969. The C is a runoff index used as an input parameter in the most commonly used procedure: the rational method for storm-water runoff calculation in small urban watersheds for storm drainage design and analysis. The objective of this study was to evaluate 8-bit and 16-bit Quick-Bird (QB) NDVI satellite imagery using an unsupervised classification and the ISODATA algorithm to map impervious area and open space used for the determination of C in GIS spatial modeling. The research hypothesis was that mapping impervious area and open space using high spatial resolution NDVI satellite imagery, generated using the ISODATA algorithm, was an efficient and effective information extraction approach for accurately estimating spatial representative C values. The overall classification accuracies of the six QB NDVI thematic maps produced were similar, about 92 percent. In order to assess the utility of high spatial resolution satellite imagery and to validate the composite runoff index geographic model developed by Thanapura in 2005 and 2006, the C values were calculated in GIS spatial modeling and compared to the industry standard C. Finally, the hypothesis was accepted that the finer resolution image and mapping approach used in this study allowed for better discrimination of land-cover and thus a more accurate representative C estimation. [Termes IGN] variabilitéRésumé : (Auteur) A two-year study was conducted in 2002 and 2003 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas's center for urban water conservation to assess canopy spectral response of annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) grown under various combinations of N and irrigation (based on leaching fraction: LF) treatments. Multispectral measurements were acquired using a ground-based spectroradiometer (200–1100 nm) on a biweekly basis during the growing season (October–May) in 2002 and 2003. Multispectral parameters were correlated with soil–plant parameters and temporal variability was investigated. Results showed that the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), stress index (SI), photochemical reflectance index (PRI) and canopy reflectance at 693 nm, were highly correlated with tissue N concentration (TN), tissue moisture content (TM), TN*TM and canopy colour, as influenced by N and LF treatment combinations. Coefficients of determination ranged from 0.50 to 0.79 (P Numéro de notice : A2006-462 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/01431160600851843 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/01431160600851843 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=28186

In order to evaluate forest decline rates in cork oak of Southern Spain, an analysis was made of statistical correlation between the 4 IKONOS sensor original bands acquired in 2000, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Infrared/Red Index (IR/R) and defoliation information obtained from the ground study. IKONOS near infrared band was negative correlated with defoliation (Pearson Correlation -0,762). The correlation between defoliation and IR/R ratio (Pearson Correlation -0,506) and NDVI (Pearson Correlation -0.449) was also significantly correlated. The dispersion of data presents in each category of defoliation justifies the use of the median value as the representative variable value for each intervals of defoliation. The Statistical Index of Defoliation (SID), generated from a lineal combination of IKONOS sensor bands, shows a correlation rate of 0.85 with the deforestation ground estimate. This study shows that high-spatial-resolution satellite data can now be used to measure forest decline processes, suggesting many new alternatives to evaluate the impact afforest decline in Mediterranean forests.
