[Termes IGN] propagation d'erreurRésumé : (Auteur) Environmental modelling languages provide the possibility to construct models in two or three spatial dimensions. These models can be static models, without a time component, or dynamic models. Dynamic models are simulations run forward in time, where the state of the model at time t is defined as a function of its state in a period or time step preceding t. Since inputs and parameters of environmental models are associated with errors, environmental modelling languages need to provide techniques to calculate how these errors propagate to the output(s) of the model. Since these techniques are not yet available, the paper describes concepts for extending an environmental-modelling language with functionality for error-propagation modelling. The approach models errors in inputs and parameters as stochastic variables, while the error in the model outputs is approximated with a Monte Carlo simulation. A modelling language is proposed which combines standard functions in a structured script (program) for building environmental models, and calculation of error propagation in these models. A prototype implementation of the language is used in three example models to illustrate the concepts. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we present a new conceptual model for a full 3D cadastral registration system. Two important components are : (1) the "surface parcel partition" based on a detailed elevation model and (2) the volume parcel and its representation. Technological solutions for both parts are not yet available in commercial Geo-ICT software, and therefore solutions have been investigated, designed and developed (in a geo-DBMS environment). A number of countries in the world do already have legislation allowing the registration of volume parcels, sometimes even including detailed regulations for 3D survey plans. However, until now, these have not yet been integrated in the cadastral information system. A 3D case from Queensland, Australia is presented, and a prototype is realized based on an integrated 3D cadastral information system : elevation-model-based surface parcels complemented with volume parcels. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Geovisualization offers powerful tools, techniques, and strategies to present, explore, analyze, and manage geoinformation. Interactive geovirtual environments such as virtual 3D maps or virtual 3D city models, however, raise the question how to control geodata usage and distribution. We present a concept for embedding digital rights in geovisualizations. It is based on geo-documents, an object-oriented scheme to specify a wide range of geovisualizations. Geo-documents are assembled by building blocks categorized into presentation, structure, interaction, animation, and Digital Rights Management (DRM) classes. DRM objects allow for defining permissions and constraints for all objects contained in geo-documents. In this way, authors of geovisualizations can control how their geo-documents are used personalized, and redistributed by users. The strengths of the presented concept include the ability to integrate heterogeneous 2D and 3D geodata within a compact design scheme and the ability to cope with privacy, security, and copyright issues. Embedded digital rights in geovisualizations can be applied to improve the usability of geodata user interfaces, to implement publisher-subscriber communication systems for geodata, and to establish business model for geodata trading systems. [Termes IGN] objet géographique 3DRésumé : (Auteur) This article deals with topological concepts and models which are necessary to represent three-dimensional urban objects in a geographical information system (GIS). Depending on the shape and the representation of features, several classes with increasing topological complexity are identified and described. This complexity has strong impacts on the models and tools which are required to represent, manage and edit the data. One specific model we call '2.8-D map' is identified, which covers many 3-D applications in GIS. It is a slight extension of a 2-D or 2.5-D model and preserves the algorithmic and conceptual simplicity of the 2-D case as much as possible. The model is described in a formal way. Integrity axioms are given, which detect errors in corresponding data sets safely and guarantee the consistency of 2.8-D maps in a mathematically sound and provable way. These axioms are effectively and efficiently checkable by automatic procedures. The model extends digital terrain models (2.5-D) by allowing for vertical walls and projections like balconies or ledges. The conceptual simplicity is due to the two-dimensional topology of the model. Thus bridges and tunnels are special cases; it is shown how to detect and handle these cases efficiently. Based on this model, thematic objects and their aggregation structures are defined in a consistent way.
