[Termes IGN] système à base de connaissancesRésumé : (Résumé) The academic interest in social concepts in city contexts, such as sense of place and social capital, has been growing in the last decades. We present a systematic literature review that confirms the strong relationship between sense of place and social capital, from a social sciences point-of-view. It also reveal that little attention has been paid to their spatial dimensions at the urban level, thereby missing the chance to exploit socio-spatial knowledge to improve the day-to-day life in and functioning of the city (e.g. in planning processes, citizen participation, civic engagement). We therefore examine sense of place and social capital from a Geographic Information Science (GISc) viewpoint, and present a formal conceptualization and initial theoretical framework which explicitly describes both concepts, and the relation between them, within the context of a city and from a spatial point of view. [Termes IGN] web des donnéesRésumé : (auteur) In our work, we are interested in facilitating the exploration by scholars of the geography of texts: in particular, historical narrative texts describing routes. Semantic annotation constitutes the first step to enrich such text with the necessary information for producing analytical maps. The present article focuses on the disambiguation of spatial named entities (SNE) by the attribution of an identifier of the ever-growing Web of Data. This giant knowledge base (KB) provides qualitative spatial information about geographic entities, in particular spatial relations such as (:Paris :southOf :Lille), (:Paris :country :France). We thus propose a graph-matching algorithm relying on the A* algorithm and graph-edit distances for choosing the best referent in the KB for the SNE. We performed preliminary experiments and noted the clear gain in performance. We propose some examples of maps that are built semi-automatically. Finally, we draw conclusions and describe our plans of future work. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) A novel generalized pattern search (GPS)-based cellular automata (GPS-CA) model was developed to simulate urban land-use change in a GIS environment. The model is built on a fitness function that computes the difference between the observed results produced from remote-sensing images and the simulated results produced by a general CA model. GPS optimization incorporating genetic algorithms (GAs) searches for the minimum difference, i.e. the smallest accumulated residuals, in fitting the CA transition rules. The CA coefficients captured by the GPS method have clear physical meanings that are closely associated with the dynamic mechanisms of land-use change. The GPS-CA model was applied to simulate urban land-use change in Kunshan City in the Yangtze River Delta from 2000 to 2015. The results show that the GPS method had a smaller root mean squared error (0.2821) than a logistic regression (LR) method (0.5256) in fitting the CA transition rules. The GPS-CA model thus outperformed the LR-CA model, with an overall accuracy improvement of 4.7%. As a result, the GPS-CA model should be a superior tool for modeling land-use change as well as predicting future scenarios in response to different conditions to support the sustainable urban development. [Termes IGN] service webRésumé : (Auteur) The spatial analysis functionalities of geographic information systems (GIS) are increasingly used across the web. Interface specifications of geoprocessing web services define the syntactic properties of the services (number and type of parameters) and provide textual descriptions of the operations. The discovery and reuse of web services based on these syntactic properties is restricted and has led to the quest for extended operation descriptions. A number of extended operation descriptions have been proposed and are reviewed in this article. The reviewed descriptions focus on particular steps of the workflow development process. In this article we analyse all phases of the development process of a spatial analysis workflow regarding the requirements of operation descriptions. These requirements are translated into a knowledge base that contains information about spatial analysis operations for the operations’ discovery, selection and composition. The knowledge base also foresees the automated discovery of operations in well-defined application contexts such as the transformation of data types or coordinate reference systems. The knowledge base combines the geooperator approach with elements of ontology-based approaches. The geooperator browser is the implementation of the discovery and selection of geoprocessing operations based on the knowledge base. A draft formalization of the knowledge base demonstrates its use and the support it provides during the composition of operations. [Termes IGN] web sémantiqueRésumé : (auteur) Assessing the quality of the main linked data sources on the Web like DBpedia or Yago is an important research topic. The existing approaches for quality assessment mostly focus on determining whether data sources are compliant with Web of data best practices or on their completeness, semantic accuracy, consistency, relevancy or trustworthiness. In this article, we aim at assessing the accuracy of a particular type of information often associated with Web of data resources: direct spatial references. We present the approaches currently used for assessing the planimetric accuracy of geographic databases. We explain why they cannot be directly applied to the resources of the Web of data. Eventually, we propose an approach for assessing the planimetric accuracy of DBpedia resources, adapted to the open nature of this knowledge base.
