[Termes IGN] texture d'imageRésumé : (auteur) The extraction of road information from high-resolution remotely-sensed images has important application value in many fields. Rural roads have the characteristics of relatively narrow widths and diversified pavement materials; these characteristics can easily lead to problems involving the similarity of the road texture with the texture of surrounding objects and make it difficult to improve the automation of traditional high-precision road extraction methods. Based on this background, a semi-automatic rural road extraction method constrained by a combination of geometric and texture features is proposed in this paper. First, an adaptive road width extraction model is proposed to improve the accuracy of the initial road centre point. Then, aiming at the continuous change of curvature of rural roads, a tracking direction prediction model is proposed. Finally, a matching model under geometric texture constraints is proposed, which solves the problem of similarity between road and neighbourhood texture to a certain extent. The experimental results show that by selecting different types of experimental scenes or remotely sensed image data, compared with other methods, the proposed method can not only guarantee the road extraction accuracy but also improve the degree of automation to a certain extent. However, large portions of this corpus have yet to be examined. This study explores a rare mid-19th-century Ottoman map of the Province of Saida preserved in the Ottoman Archive in Istanbul. It lists travel times between villages, towns, and administrative centers in Greater Syria under Ottoman rule, and shows the network of routes connecting these localities. Using an historical GIS approach, we evaluated the characteristics of the map and its cartographical accuracy and merits. The network of routes on the map is compared to route reconstructions based on least-cost-path principles. The discussion focuses on the historical context of the map and the ways in which it reflects the strength of Ottoman rule and familiarity with Greater Syria at the time. [Termes IGN] transport publicRésumé : (auteur) GIS-based spatial access measures have been used extensively to monitor social equity and to help develop policy. However, inherent uncertainties in the road datasets used in spatial access estimates remain largely underreported. These uncertainties might result in unrecognized biases within visualization products and decision-making outcomes that strive to improve social equity based on seemingly egalitarian accessibility metrics. To better understand and address these uncertainties, we evaluated variations in travel impedance for car and bus transportation using proprietary, volunteer-information-based, and free (non-volunteer-information-based) street networks. We then interpreted the measured variations through the lens of street data uncertainty and its propagation in a common E2SFCA model of spatial accessibility. Results indicated that travel impedance disagreement propagates through the modeling process to effect agreement of spatial access index (SPAI) estimates among different street sources, with larger uncertainties observed for bus travel than car travel. Higher impedance coefficients (β), a model parameter, reduced the impact of street-source variations on estimates. Less urbanized regions were found to experience higher street-source variations when compared with the core-metropolitan area. We also demonstrated that a relative spatial access measure – the spatial access ratio (SPAR) – reduced uncertainties introduced by the choice of street datasets. Careful selection of reliable street sources and model parameters (e.g. higher β), as well as consideration of the potential for bias, particularly for less urbanized areas and areas reliant on public transportation, is warranted when leveraging SPAI to inform policy. When reliable/accurate road network data are not accessible or data quality information is not available, the SPAR is a suitable alternative or supplement to SPAI for visualization and analyses. In order to solve various problems caused by urbanization and optimize the allocation of urban resources, in this paper, the significance of spatial planning in big cities was analyzed from the perspective of land space utilization along with the rail transit. Based on GIS spatial clustering mining technology and combined with the basic characteristics of geographic information system, a GIS spatial mining search model that can solve the spatial land use was proposed. Then, by combining the clustering algorithm of some association rules, the land planning and utilization along the urban rail transit were calculated. The actual case was taken to establish the grid elements along with the rail transit, and the GIS spatial clustering algorithm was used to verify the model. The results show that GIS spatial clustering algorithm can effectively verify and calculate urban rail transit land planning programs. [Termes IGN] WebSIGRésumé : (auteur) In recent years, considerable efforts have been made by cultural heritage institutions across the globe to digitise cultural heritage sites, artifacts, historical maps, etc. for digital preservation and online representation. On the other hand, ample research projects and studies have been published that demonstrate the great capabilities of web-geographic information systems (web-GIS) for the dissemination and online representation of cultural heritage data. However, cultural heritage data and the associated metadata produced by many cultural heritage institutions are heterogeneous. To make this heterogeneous data more interoperable and structured, an ever-growing number of cultural heritage institutions are adopting linked data principles. Although the cultural heritage domain has already started implementing linked open data concepts to the cultural heritage data, there are not many research articles that present an easy-to-implement, free, and open-source-based web-GIS architecture that integrates 3D digital cultural heritage models with cloud computing and linked open data. Furthermore, the integration of web-GIS technologies with 3D web-based visualisation and linked open data may offer new dimensions of interaction and exploration of digital cultural heritage. To demonstrate the high potential of integration of these technologies, this study presents a novel cloud architecture that attempts to enhance digital cultural heritage exploration by integrating 3D digital cultural heritage models with linked open data from DBpedia and GeoNames platforms using web-GIS technologies. More specifically, a digital interactive map, 3D digital cultural heritage models, and linked open data from DBpedia and GeoNames platforms were integrated into a cloud-based web-GIS architecture. Thus, the users of the architecture can easily interact with the digital map, visualise 3D digital cultural heritage models, and explore linked open data from GeoNames and DBpedia platforms, which offer additional information and context related to the selected cultural heritage site as well as external web resources. The architecture was validated by applying it to specific case studies of Australian cultural heritage and seeking expert feedback on the system, its benefits, and scope for improvement in the near future.
