[Termes IGN] processus de hiérarchisation analytique floueRésumé : (Auteur) The spatial hierarchy of part-whole relationships is an essential characteristic of the platial world. Constructing spatial hierarchies of places is valuable in association analysis and qualitative spatial reasoning. The emergence of large amounts of geotagged user-generated content provides strong support for modelling places. However, the vague nature of places and the complex spatial relationships among places make it intractable to understand and represent the hierarchies among places. In this paper, we introduce a fuzzy formal concept analysis-based approach to uncovering the spatial hierarchies among vague places. Each place is represented as a concept that consists of its extent and its intent. Based on the place concepts, the spatial hierarchies are generated and expressed as a graph that is easy to comprehend and contains abundant information on spatial relations. We also demonstrate the rationality of our result by comparing it with the result of a questionnaire survey. [Termes IGN] transformation géométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) In everyday communication, people effortlessly translate between spatial cognitive frames of reference. For example, a tourist guide translates from a map (“the fountain is north‐west of the church”) into a cognitive frame for a tourist (“the fountain in front of the church”). While different types of cognitive reference frames and their relevance for language cultures have been studied in considerable depth, we still lack adequate transformation models. In this article, we argue that transformations in current Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are inappropriate to this end. Appropriate transformation models need to go beyond point discretization to take into account vague transformations, in order to deal with forms, sizes, and vagueness of spatial relations relative to ground objects. We argue that neural fields should be used to denote fuzzy positions, directions, and sizes in a particular frame. We propose fuzzy vector spaces to approximate neural field behavior with affine transformations, including fuzzy translation, rotation, and scaling, in order to efficiently transform between different cognitive perspectives. We use an implementation in Haskell to describe a geographic map from the perspective of six well‐known cognitive frames of reference. Based on these findings, we give an outlook on the principles of a “neural GIS.”

// This paper proposes a methodology for transforming a relative position description expressed in an indirect repository into an absolute position in a direct repository. This problem requires the formalization of relative location elements, here in the form of a triplet model, which is used as a basis for the transformation from relative to absolute position and the questioning on how the imperfection of the natural language in the modeling process can be taken into account. We propose to use fuzzy spatial objects and we will compare their implementations to identify the most appropriate approach to our context. [Termes IGN] théorie des possibilitésRésumé : (Auteur) Trajectory data capture the traveling history of moving objects such as people or vehicles. With the proliferation of GPS and tracking technologies, huge volumes of trajectories are rapidly generated and collected. Under this, applications such as route recommendation and traveling behavior mining call for efficient trajectory retrieval. In this paper, we first focus on distance-to-points trajectory search; given a collection of trajectories and a set query points, the goal is to retrieve the top-k trajectories that pass as close as possible to all query points. We advance the state-of-the-art by combining existing approaches to a hybrid nearest neighbor-based method while also proposing an alternative, more efficient spatial range-based approach. Second, we investigate the continuous counterpart of distance-to-points trajectory search where the query is long-standing and the set of returned trajectories needs to be maintained whenever updates occur to the query and/or the data. Third, we propose and study two practical variants of distance-to-points trajectory search, which take into account the temporal characteristics of the searched trajectories. Through an extensive experimental analysis with real trajectory data, we show that our range-based approach outperforms previous methods by at least one order of magnitude for the snapshot and up to several times for the continuous version of the queries. [Termes IGN] Wuhan (Chine)Résumé : (Auteur) Intersections are the critical parts where different traffic flows converge and change directions, forming “bottlenecks” and “clog points” in urban traffic. Intersection travel time is an important parameter for public route planning, traffic management, and engineering optimization. Based on low-frequency spatial-temporal Global Positioning System (GPS) trace data, this article presents a novel method for estimating intersection travel time. The proposed method first analyzes the different travel patterns of vehicles through an intersection, then determines the range of an intersection dynamically and reasonably, and obtains traffic flow speed and delay at the intersection under different travel patterns using a fuzzy fitting approach. Finally, the average intersection travel time is estimated from traffic flow speed and delay and intersection range in different travel patterns. Wuhan road network data and GPS trace data from taxicabs were tested in the experiments and the results show that the proposed method can improve the accuracy of travel time estimation at city intersections.
