[Termes IGN] téléphonie mobileRésumé : (Auteur) In a context of a virus that is transmissive by sputtering, wearing masks appear necessary to protect the wearer and to limit the propagation of the disease. Currently, we are facing the 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease with first symptoms similar to the flu. COVID-19 appeared first in China and very quickly spreads to the rest of the world. The COVID-19 contagiousness is known to be high by comparison with the flu. In this paper, we propose a design of a mobile application for permitting to everyone having a smartphone and being able to take a picture to verify that his/her protection mask is correctly positioned on his/her face. Such application can be particularly useful for people using face protection mask for the first time and notably for children and old people. The designed method exploits Haar-like feature descriptors to detect key features of the face and a decision-making algorithm is applied. Experimental results show the potential of this method in the validation of the correct mask wearing. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the only one that currently proposes a mobile application design "CheckYourMask" for validating the correct wearing of protection mask. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (Auteur) [Introduction] In this open-access Special Issue, we feature a set of publications under the theme “Human-Centered Geovisual Analytics and Visuospatial Display Design”. As the title suggests, the scope of this collection is on human-centered questions regarding visual analytics software environments; and the design of visuospatial displays within and beyond these environments. The essential building blocks of visual analytics (VA) are computers and humans [1]. Without computers (i.e., technology and quantitative methods such as those used in statistics and data science) VA simply would not exist. For decades now, it has been clear that computers are better than humans in processing large amounts of data, being capable of storing and quickly retrieving what is needed. Mechanisms such as parsing and filtering, automated pattern detection and machine learning, manual queries, and coordinated-view visualizations make visual analytics environments amazingly versatile and powerful [2]. The tools contained in VA environments assist us in spatial learning, discovery, and decision making [3,4]. It is important to remember that they can really only play an assistive role however, because tasks such as learning, interpreting patterns to make discoveries, and decision making are inherently qualitative. Often the goal is to make decisions based on observed patterns and anomalies. Such patterns and anomalies are much more likely to emerge (and if they are known to exist, they are better expressed) with visualizations than via numbers or tables alone [5]. [Termes IGN] traitement de données localiséesRésumé : (auteur) Volunteered geographic information (VGI) has been studied extensively within various contexts, however, generally focusing on isolated aspects of data. Therefore, we still need to advance the structured knowledge of the mechanisms that affect and support its creation. This article aims to contribute to the integrated study of VGI systems (VGIS) in order to enhance design processes that lead to a more systematic and efficient VGI management. We define VGIS, their main components, and general architectures. Then, we use the service blueprinting technique to conduct the case study of several systems, identifying system actions to find the processes and technologies forming the different functional components of VGIS: elements of the technological infrastructure that implement diverse processes to facilitate participation and data management. Integrated in the data collection component, we also propose a typology of crowdsourcing tasks that—coupled with the functional components—establishes a foundation for VGIS research and design. We characterize these components, arguing that they are necessary in the development of VGIS, however, there is still a need for a more detailed study of the flow of processes and subprocesses and how they work under the criteria of different types of projects to continue facilitating their design. [Termes IGN] SIG participatifRésumé : (auteur) This paper describes the development of a crowdsourced indoor navigation system named SoleWay. Because the input of volunteers is crucial, special attention was paid to the usability of the system at different stages throughout its development. Besides a user-friendly system, this has resulted in a number of important insights that can facilitate the development of future systems: the importance social motivation of potential users, integration of a stepwise approach (with a gradual release and subsequent user evaluations), and adaptation to user requirements. These elements combined are also crucial to be able to obtain a critical crowd that can sustain a viable content.
