[Termes IGN] statistique descriptiveRésumé : (Auteur) A semantic, statistical approach to reconciling data with different ontologies is introduced. It was applied to UK land cover datasets from 1990 and 2000 in order to identify land cover change. The approach combined expression of expert opinion about how the semantics of the two datasets relate with spectral homogeneity metadata. A sample of the changes identified was assessed by field validation. Change was identified in 41 percent of the visited parcels, and all of the false positives were found to be due to classification error in either dataset. Thus, the approach reliably identifies inconsistency between two datasets, and the results indicate the suitability of uncertainty formalisms. The inclusion of extensive object-level metadata by the data producers greatly facilitates practical solutions to problems of data interoperability. [Termes IGN] web sémantiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Methods that were developed in support of applications for the Semantic web are used to enhance information discovery services in a Spatial Data Infrastructure. A standard Catalog Service is thus enabled to resolve queries of the type "concept@location in time" through the automatic evaluation of metadata formalizing the conceptual, spatial and temporal semantics of geodata. A prototype of the sytem is implemented within the framework of the Interreg IIIB funded GeoShare project. [Termes IGN] traitement automatique de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) The specifications of a topographical database, like those national mapping agencies produce, contain a lot of information about the data, which is needed to correctly and precisely interpret their meaning. This information, which is not present in the raw data model, is in particular crucial to data interoperability and geographical database integration. But the specifications are huge text-based documents which are ill-suited to automatic processing. In particular, it is quite difficult for the time being to do an accurate comparison of two specification sets. This article addresses this problem by defining a method to represent these specifications in a formal and unified way. The main idea of it consists in defining a model of real ground entities and linking it to the actual data model of the database. Specifications are seen, in object-oriented terms, as relationships between a class of real ground entities and one or several classes of database objects. [Termes IGN] service de géoinformationRésumé : (Auteur) E-business is emerging in the market for Geographic Information (GI). Mostly, offered products are data and some technical services, which do not match the demand of business customers. They require complex GI-solutions, which integrate human services, e.g. consulting, software adaptation, and training. We suggest electronic GI marketplaces for enabling GI service chains integrating technical human servies. The implentation of technical services in an internet business platform requires an ontology-based semantic description language. The most advanced language is OWL-S (formely DAML-S). The implementation of human services in internet based-service chains also requires semantics. This paper will demonstrate by a typical business scenario, that 1- OWL-S fulfills the requirements of a semantic enabling web description for human services and 2- integration of human and technical GI services in an internet-based service chain can be implemented by the common language OWL-S and thus enhancing GI business by connecting customers and providers.
