It is the primary event organised by the International Geographical Union's study group on Geographical Information Science. The symposium places particular emphasis on identifying significant headway in GIS. The papers published are carefully refereed by an international program committee composed of experts in various areas of GIS who are especially renowned for their scientific innovation. The proceedings of this series have become an important reference for researchers and students in the field of geography, cartography and geoinformation. [Termes IGN] théorie de Dempster-ShaferRésumé : (auteur) A spatial data matching based on the Dempster-Shafer theory is presented in this paper. Spatial data are imperfect and this imperfection should be taken into account in the matching process. Data are matched by combining three criteria based on location, names of places and nature of the objects, i.e. semantic properties. Experiments are performed on relief points belonging to five different datasets. Precision and recall equal to almost 100% are achieved. [Termes IGN] relation sémantiqueRésumé : (éditeur) The Association of Geographic Information Laboratories for Europe (AGILE) was established in early 1998 to promote academic teaching and research on GIS at the European level. AGILE seeks to ensure that the views of the geographic information teaching and research community are fully represented in the discussions that take place on future European - search agendas and it also provides a permanent scientific forum where geographic information researchers can meet and exchange ideas and - periences at the European level. In 2007 AGILE provided - for the first time since its existence - a book constituting a collection of scientific papers that were submitted as fu- papers to the annual AGILE conference and went through a competitive and thorough review process. Published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography this first edition was well received within AGILE and within the European Geoinformation Science com- nity as a whole. Thus, the decision was easily made to establish a Springer th Volume for the 11 AGILE conference held 2008 in Girona, Spain, and led to what you now hold in your hands. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) In recent years, cartographic Web applications have evolved from closed monolithic applications to open distributed systems in which real-time map rendering components and services play an important role. This progress has required new and flexible ways of defining map symbolization. The development of cartographic interfaces needed to describe the desired map output offers the means to extend current symbolization approaches and adapt the portrayal of data to the most demanding requirements in the area of distributed thematic mapping. This article analyses, in the context of open distributed processing, some of the existing cartographic interfaces that can be used for various cartographic applications and services. At the same time, the article offers a look at the most recent research efforts in this area.
