[Termes IGN] théorie de Dempster-ShaferRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we focus on the classification of lidar point cloud data acquired via mobile laser scanning, whereby the classification relies on a context model based on a Conditional Random Field (CRF). We present two approximate inference algorithms based on belief propagation, as well as a graph-cut-based approach not yet applied in this context. To demonstrate the performance of our approach, we present the classification results derived for a standard benchmark dataset. These results clearly indicate that the graph-cut-based method is able to retrieve a labeling of higher likelihood in only a fraction of the time needed for the other approaches. The higher likelihood, in turn, translates into a significant gain in the accuracy of the obtained classification. This study presents a workflow to extract the extent of urbanized ground using decision-level fusion and regularization of individual classifications on Sentinel-2 and SPOT-6 satellite images. First, both images are classified individually in five classes, using state-of-the-art supervised classification approaches and Convolutional Neural Networks. Decision-level fusion and regularization are used to combine the spatial and spectral advantages of both sources: First, both sources are merged in order to extract building labels with as high semantic and spatial precision as possible. Second, the building labels are used together with the Sentinel-2 classification as input for a binary classification of the artificialized area; the building labels from the regularization are dilated in order to connect the building objects and a binary classification is derived from the original Sentinel-2 classification before these two separate binary classifications are reintroduced in a fusion and regularization to find the artificialized area. Segmentation of the Sentinel-2 satellite image and majority voting of the object-level classification are also used to refine the contours of the artificialized area. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] théorie de Dempster-ShaferRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we propose a generic framework for watertight mesh generation with uncertainties that provides a confidence measure on each reconstructed mesh triangle. Its input is a set of vision-based or Lidar-based 3D measurements which are converted to a set of mass functions that characterize the level of confidence on the occupancy of the scene as occupied, empty or unknown based on Dempster-Shafer Theory. The output is a multi-label segmentation of the ambient 3D space expressing the confidence for each resulting volume element to be occupied or empty. While existing methods either sacrifice watertightness (local methods) or need to introduce a smoothness prior (global methods), we derive a per-triangle confidence measure that is able to gradually characterize when the resulting surface patches are certain due to dense and coherent measurements and when these patches are more uncertain and are mainly present to ensure smoothness and/or watertightness. The surface mesh reconstruction is formulated as a global energy minimization problem efficiently optimized with the α-expansion algorithm. We claim that the resulting confidence measure is a good estimate of the local lack of sufficiently dense and coherent input measurements, which would be a valuable input for the next-best-view scheduling of a complementary acquisition.
Beside the new formulation, the proposed approach achieves state-of-the-art results on surface reconstruction benchmark. It is robust to noise, manages high scale disparity and produces a watertight surface with a small Hausdorff distance in uncertainty area thanks to the multi-label formulation. By simply thresholding the result, the method shows a good reconstruction quality compared to local algorithms on high density data. This is demonstrated on a large scale reconstruction combining real-world datasets from airborne and terrestrial Lidar and on an indoor scene reconstructed from images.

[Termes IGN] théorie de Dempster-ShaferMots-clés libres : Occupancy grids Point-to-triangle distance Résumé : (auteur) Mobile laser scanning (MLS) has become a popular technique for road inventory, building modelling, infrastructure management, mobility assessment, etc. Meanwhile, due to the high mobility of MLS systems, it is easy to revisit interested areas. However, change detection using MLS data of street environment has seldom been studied. In this paper, an approach that combines occupancy grids and a distance-based method for change detection from MLS point clouds is proposed. Unlike conventional occupancy grids, our occupancy-based method models space based on scanning rays and local point distributions in 3D without voxelization. A local cylindrical reference frame is presented for the interpolation of occupancy between rays according to the scanning geometry. The Dempster–Shafer theory (DST) is utilized for both intra-data evidence fusion and inter-data consistency assessment. Occupancy of reference point cloud is fused at the location of target points and then the consistency is evaluated directly on the points. A point-to-triangle (PTT) distance-based method is combined to improve the occupancy-based method. Because it is robust to penetrable objects, e.g. vegetation, which cause self-conflicts when modelling occupancy. The combined method tackles irregular point density and occlusion problems, also eliminates false detections on penetrable objects. [Termes IGN] théorie de Dempster-ShaferRésumé : (auteur) Nowadays geographic vector data is produced both by public and private institutions using well defined specifications or crowdsourcing via Web 2.0 mapping portals. As a result, multiple representations of the same real world objects exist, without any links between these different representations. This becomes an issue when integration, updates, or multi-level analysis needs to be performed, as well as for data quality assessment. In this paper a multi-criteria data matching approach allowing the automatic definition of links between identical features is proposed. The originality of the approach is that the process is guided by an explicit representation and fusion of knowledge from various sources. Moreover the imperfection (imprecision, uncertainty, and incompleteness) is explicitly modeled in the process. Belief theory is used to represent and fuse knowledge from different sources, to model imperfection, and make a decision. Experiments are reported on real data coming from different producers, having different scales and either representing relief (isolated points) or road networks (linear data).
