In this algorithm, the original non-linear projection trajectory is simplified to a linear one by the least squares line fitting of sample points selected from the projection trajectory. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated using IRS-P5, SPOT5-HRG and IKONOS stereo-images acquired in different stereoscopic imaging modes over different terrain types. The results obtained indicate that the vertical parallax of each pair of conjugate image points on the epipolar images thus generated achieves accuracy at the sub-pixel level. [Termes IGN] programmation dynamiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The extraction of the third dimension from remote sensing data is a well known technique. Since in a number of countries aerial images and laser scanner data are unavailable, expensive or classified, stereoscopic high-resolution optical satellite images provide a viable alternative for generating digital surface and digital terrain models. Especially the automatic extraction of highly accurate 3D surface models in urban areas is still a very complicated task due to occlusions, large differences in height and the variety of objects and surface material. In this paper, an analysis and a visual and quantitative comparison of three different matching algorithms for generating urban DSMs based on very high-resolution satellite images is presented. The three algorithms are least squares matching (lsm) in a region growing fashion, dynamic programming (DP) and semiglobal matching (sgm). The characteristics of the three algorithms as applied to four different Ikonos stereo pairs with a ground sampling distance of 1 m are shown. The following results were obtained: visually, in the lsm results the shape of the buildings is considerably smoothed. While in the DP results the building shape is sharper, only little detail is visible on the building roofs, and streaking along the epipolar lines causes problems. With SGM, more details can be extracted and the results visually have the best quality. Based on reference data for the different test sites, the standard deviation of the building heights determined by LSM and DP is in the range of one pixel or slightly better, while it is in the range of half a pixel for SGM. [Termes IGN] résolution d'ambiguïtéRésumé : (Auteur) Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) carrier phase integer ambiguity resolution is the key to high precision positioning and attitude determination. In this contribution, we develop new integer least-squares (ILS) theory for the GNSS compass model, together with efficient integer search strategies. It extends current unconstrained ILS theory to the nonlinearly constrained case, an extension that is particularly suited for precise attitude determination. As opposed to current practice, our method does proper justice to the a priori given information. The nonlinear baseline constraint is fully integrated into the ambiguity objective function, thereby receiving a proper weighting in its minimization and providing guidance for the integer search. Different search strategies are developed to compute exact and approximate solutions of the nonlinear constrained ILS problem. Their applicability depends on the strength of the GNSS model and on the length of the baseline. Two of the presented search strategies, a global and a local one, are based on the use of an ellipsoidal search space. This has the advantage that standard methods can be applied. The global ellipsoidal search strategy is applicable to GNSS models of sufficient strength, while the local ellipsoidal search strategy is applicable to models for which the baseline lengths are not too small. We also develop search strategies for the most challenging case, namely when the curvature of the non-ellipsoidal ambiguity search space needs to be taken into account. Two such strategies are presented, an approximate one and a rigorous, somewhat more complex, one. The approximate one is applicable when the fixed baseline variance matrix is close to diagonal. Both methods make use of a search and shrink strategy. The rigorous solution is efficiently obtained by means of a search and shrink strategy that uses non quadratic, but easy-to-evaluate, bounding functions of the ambiguity objective function. The theory presented is generally valid and it is not restricted to any particular GNSS or combination of GNSSs. Its general applicability also applies to the measurement scenarios (e.g. single-epoch vs. multi-epoch, or single-frequency vs. multi-frequency). In particular it is applicable to the most challenging case of unaided, single frequency, single epoch GNSS attitude determination. The success rate performance of the different methods is also illustrated. [Termes IGN] programmation linéaireRésumé : (Auteur) In engineering, especially in surveying engineering, network adjustment is made to find out the definite values of the unknowns and the measurements. Generally, the least squares method is used for vertical network adjustment. In this study, the linear goal programming method is proposed as an alternative method to the least squares method for network adjustment. The linear goal programming method is explained with an example, and the results are compared. The results found by using these two methods are similar. This study confirms that linear goal programming methods can be used in vertical network adjustment. Note de contenu : Introduction
