The framework employs a coarse to fine strategy in the estimation of the registration parameters. First, a dense 3D point cloud and the associated relative camera parameters are extracted from the optical aerial imagery using a state-of-the-art 3D reconstruction algorithm. Next, a digital surface model (DSM) is generated from both the LiDAR and the optical imagery-derived point clouds. Coarse registration parameters are then computed from salient features extracted from the LiDAR and optical imagery-derived DSMs. The registration parameters are further refined using the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm to minimize global error between the registered point clouds. The novelty of the proposed approach is in the computation of salient features from the DSMs, and the selection of matching salient features using geometric invariants coupled with Normalized Cross Correlation (NCC) match validation. The feature extraction and matching process enables the automatic estimation of the coarse registration parameters required for initializing the fine registration process. The registration framework is tested on a simulated scene and aerial datasets acquired in real urban environments. Results demonstrates the robustness of the framework for registering optical and 3D structural information extracted from aerial imagery to a LiDAR point cloud, when co-existing initial registration parameters are unavailable. [Termes descripteurs IGN] TurquieRésumé : (auteur) Usage of aerial oblique cameras and oblique images in generation of 3D city models has become popular all over the world in recent years and various solutions has been developed involving specialized methods and softwares. The first comprehensive step in this field was taken by Konya Metropolitan Municipality in Turkey in 2012 and the project undertaken by GEOGIS has been successfully completed in Februaty 2014. It is the fast Lime in Turkey that 3D city model of this large scale has been generated. The project involves: Aerial image acquisition of the project area with vertical and oblique cameras respectively and photogrammetric triangulation; Development of OttoPenta software, which can display oblique images in pentaview screen, make spatial queries and also can measure the horizontal, vertical distance and area; Digitization of roof and roof structures from vertical stereo images using photogrammetric intertetation techniques and generation of 3D solid building models using this data; Assigning building ID numbers to solid models to integrate with the GIS data of the Municipality that is available in Oracle Spatial database; Automatic texturing of 3D models with oblique images; Exporting of textuted 3D models into Oracle Spatial Database in CityGML format, complying the OGC standards; and development of KNVCity software, to create and publish the 3D city guide on WEB and mobile devices. The goal of this paper is sharing the experience and knowledge that was gained during the 3D City modeling and 3D city guide project which was performed for the first time in Turkey. [Termes descripteurs IGN] photogrammétrie terrestreRésumé : (auteur) Thanks to the high resolution of modern SAR satellites many persistent scatterers (PS) appear at single buildings. Approximately half of them represent building facades. These groups of points often show regular patterns in SAR images that can be related to repeating structure elements on the facades. Hence, individual buildings can now be monitored over time, either based on amplitude (for change detection) or phase information (using interferometric methods). However, patterns of point signatures are often disrupted or disappear when the imaging geometry is slightly changed. In addition, the localization accuracy of estimated and geocoded natural PS is not known, yet. The investigation at hand provides a detailed analysis of PS patterns based on reference data obtained from a photogrammetric survey and terrestrial measurements. The processing of the optical images allows creating a detailed 3D model of the respective facade, which represents the geometrical object information for SAR simulation. The terrestrial measurements allow relating the 3D model to its true position in a world coordinate system like UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator), which is necessary for assessing the localization accuracy of the signatures. From the simulation results the appearance of the point patterns of natural PS in high resolution SAR data can be better understood. Moreover, the localization accuracy and the precision for these points can be derived for the first time. The approach and findings for two case studies in Munich are described in detail in this paper. [Termes descripteurs IGN] webGLRésumé : (auteur) The internet browsers nowadays show incredible possibilities with HTML5. It makes it possible to use all the power of your device such as the GPU and all its sensors, GPS, accelerometer, camera, etc. The ability to put hardware-accelerated 3D content in the browser provides a way for the creation of new web based applications that were previously the exclusive domain of the desktop environment. This paper introduces a novel implementation of a 3D GIS WebGL-based navigation system which allows end-users to navigate in a 3D realistic and immersive urban scene, to interact with different spatial data such as panoramic image, laser, 3D-city model, and vector data with modern functionalities such as using your smartphone as a remote, render for 3D screen and make the scene dynamic.
