[Termes IGN] transformation de HoughRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, the possibility of reconstructing object lines using a smartphone’s rear dual camera (wide-angle and telephoto) was examined through designing a semi-automatic system. After calibrating both cameras, six scenes for each of three objects were captured and rectified. Object lines were categorised into six groups based on the distance and angle to the dual camera system. Image lines were extracted using the linear Hough transform technique and points of intersection detected. Stereo pairing of conjugate points then allowed the calculation of object coordinates and the lengths of object lines were compared to their lengths measured by a digital caliper. The best line reconstruction results were achieved with the smallest distance and angle to the dual camera system. The proposed model incorporates similarity and relevance measures, exhibited from Q-analysis of simplicial complexes, facilitating data manipulation and revealing latent relations in a spatial-social network. It also uses an indoor-specific metric representing the ease of access to process spatial-social queries in indoor environments. The proposed model’s experimental implementation shows the quantitative advantage of using graph-based representation and the qualitative superiority of simplex-based enrichment in processing spatial-social queries in indoor environments. [Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (auteur) The characteristics of data points obtained by laser scanning (LiDAR) and images have been considered complementary in the field of photogrammetric applications, and research to improve their integrated use have recently intensified. This study aim to verify the performance of determining punctual entities in a LiDAR point cloud using linear regression and intersecting lines obtained from buildings with square rooftop containing four planes (hip roof), as well as compare punctual entities three-dimensional coordinates determined by planes intersection. Our results show that the proposed method was more accurate in determining three-dimensional coordinates than plan intersection method. The obtained coordinates were evaluated and framed into the map accuracy standard for digital cartographic products (PEC-PCD), besides being analyzed for trend and precision. Accuracy analysis results frame punctual entities three-dimensional coordinates into the 1:2,000 or lower scale for Class A of PEC-PCD. [Termes IGN] relation topologiqueRésumé : (auteur) The past 25 years have seen a proliferation of interest in GIS among humanists and humanistic social scientists. Under various banners – historical GIS, qualitative and mixed methods GIS, spatial and digital history, digital humanities, spatial humanities or geohumanities – researchers have developed new ways to include qualitative data within the framework of GIS. At the same time, social and theoretical critiques of GIS as a tool wielded chiefly by and for those in power have increased awareness of its limitations, particularly for studying human perceptions, experiences, and the meanings of place. We agree with a growing chorus of geographers that the most common data structures in GIS are inadequate to capture or analyze the relational dimensions of subjectivity. As part of the solution, we propose an alternative hybrid framework that prioritizes topological relationships while retaining coordinate locations as points of connection between geographic places and experiential evidence. This article explains how the challenges posed by Holocaust survivor testimony inspired us to pursue inductive spatial analysis and non-coordinate means of mapping. We then set out a model for a topological GIS and illustrate its application with two survivor testimonies and a map of their experiences. [Vedettes matières IGN] Ecologie forestièreRésumé : (auteur) Spatial patterns can reveal a lot about ecological processes, but our knowledge of the spatial ecology of tree regeneration at a fine scale is quite limited. Therefore, we studied the spatial patterns of living and dead small trees in two subalpine Norway spruce forest reserves in Switzerland (Scatlè and Bödmerenwald) using three types of analyses. First, we investigated the distances of small trees to the nearest large neighboring tree and, by using maximum distances as indicator, inferred the size of forest gaps, detecting mainly forest gaps of small size, although with two exceptions that were driven by large-scale disturbances. Second, we accounted for spatial inhomogeneity in the pattern of small and large trees (i.e., variations in local tree densities) by including environmental covariates in point pattern models. Latitude (within the forest reserve), elevation and aspect contributed significantly to explaining the density of living and dead small trees, and partly of living and dead large trees. Yet, the influence of these environmental covariates varied between the two reserves due to their different topography and peculiar site conditions. Third, we analyzed neighborhood interactions between small and large trees based on the vicinity and size of trees. In both forest reserves, small living trees were randomly dispersed around large dead trees over a broad range of distances and, at certain distances in one reserve, even dispersed away from them. Small living trees further showed clustering around large living trees at short distances and dispersion at large distances. Small dead trees featured mainly a random pattern, although with a tendency to cluster around large neighbors at short distances, irrespective whether these were living or dead. Yet, the weakening of clustering with increasing distances indicates that the influence of large trees on small trees varies with spatial scale and thus that these neighborhood interactions are scale-dependent. Overall, our study contributes to a better understanding of the spatial ecology of mortality in small trees and ultimately of tree regeneration processes and stand dynamics in mountain forests.
