The freely available DEMs have low spatial resolution (SR ≥ 30 m) and comprise considerable vertical errors. The vertical errors are worsened in the undulating and hilly or rugged terrain regions. In this research, we introduced a study to investigate the effect of the noise reduction filters on the accuracy and quality of the DEMs for undulating and hilly terrain regions. The main objectives are to extract a high-quality DEM without collecting physical data like ground control points. DEM generation using de-noised stereo images is carried out using Rational Polynomial Coefficients of Cartosat-1 sensor and Automated Tie Point (ATP) selection. The ATP selection and distribution on the stereo images play a significant role in the DEM accuracy. The present paper also provides information about the optimum number of ATPs used for different topographic conditions. The altitude value of extracted DEM through de-noised stereo images and freely accessible DEMs is compared with reference to the ground truth value of the study region. The 3-D surface profile map of the DEM is used for visual interpretation. [Termes IGN] modélisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Recently, linear features in remotely sensed imagery have gained much attention because of their unique characteristics compared to other control features. For georeferencing high-resolution satellite images, the observations in the mathematical equations (slope and y-intercept) of the corresponding control lines in the two spaces are considered the same based on recent studies. However, the use of such assumptions causes error and reduces the accuracy of registration. The aim of this article is to present a methodology based on a quasi-observation assumption in the mathematical equations in the process of georeferencing. Experimental results for IKONOS and GeoEye images over two different cities of Iran indicate that the quasi-observation assumption can increase the average registration accuracy up to 48.96% and 24.77% using 3D-affine and rational function models, respectively. This improvement in accuracy increases the processing time by 31.48% over traditional approaches; however, the proposed methodology can be regarded as an efficient solution. [Termes IGN] précision géométrique (imagerie)Résumé : (auteur) Generation of precise digital elevation models (DEMs) from stereo satellite images by using rational polynomial coefficients (RPCs) usually needs several ground control points (GCPs). This is mainly due to RPCs biases. However, since GCPs collection is a time consuming and expensive process, global DEMs (GDEMs), as the most inexpensive geospatial information, can be used to improve stereo satellite imagery-based DEMs (IB-DEMs). In this study, a 2.5 D mutual information based DEM matching, between a GDEM and an IB-DEM, was introduced for bias correction of satellite stereo images. Three well-known 30-meter GDEMs, namely, SRTM, ASTER, and AW3D30, were used and compared to assess the efficiency of this approach. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated by processing the stereo images acquired by CARTOSAT-1 satellite from two regions with flat, hilly, and mountainous topography. Evaluation results revealed that the proposed method could significantly improve the geometric accuracy of IB-DEM using all GDEMs. Numéro de notice : A2020-481 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/10106049.2019.1573854 Date de publication en ligne : 01/03/2019 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/10106049.2019.1573854 Format de la ressource électronique : url article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=95632

[Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (Auteur) The relation between slip at the near surface and at depth during earthquakes is still not fully resolved at the moment. This deficiency leads to large uncertainties in the evaluation of the magnitude of past earthquakes based on surfaceobservations, which is the only accessible evidence for such events. A better knowledge of the way slip distributes over distinct rupture strands within the first few kilometers from the surface would contribute greatly to reduce these uncertainties. The 30 October 2016 Mw6.5 Norcia earthquake has been captured by a variety of geodetic techniques, which provide access to the slip distribution both at depth and at the ground surface, with an unprecedented level of detail for a normal-faulting earthquake. Wefirst present coseismic surface offset measurements from correlation of optical satellite imagesof sub-metric resolution, which are compared to field observations made shortly after the earthquake. Based on a joint inversion of optical data together withInSAR and GPS data, we then propose a rupture model that explains the observations both at far-field and near-field scales. Finally we explore different rupture geometriesat shallow depth, in an attempt to better explain the near-field deformation (i.e. within the first hundreds of meters around the fault)observed at the surface. Despite the fact that the solution is not unique, several lines of evidence suggest that gravity processes could be locally involved, which interfere with the dominant tectonic processes. [Termes IGN] ZiYuan-3Résumé : (Auteur) Integration of satellite laser altimetry data and stereo images without ground control points (GCPs) is an attractive method for global mapping. In this paper, we propose a new strategy of integrating Ziyuan3-02 (ZY3-02) satellite stereo images and laser altimetry data using a rigorous sensor model (RSM) with laser ranging constraint under the synchronized and rational function model (RFM) with laser elevation constraint under the non-synchronized capture for high-accuracy mapping without GCPs. Four experimental regions in China are selected to validate the method. The results show that the ZY3-02 satellite laser altimetry data can be used to improve the elevation accuracy of stereo images to better than 3.0 m without GCPs. All of the conclusions are valuable for the development of China's next generation of surveying and mapping satellites.
