[Termes IGN] viticultureRésumé : (Auteur) This publication describes the techniques used and shows some of the outputs. Two years of experimental use of the techniques have given rise to a number of adaptations, aiming to make the outputs realistic and operationally and economically useful. But as stated in this book, there are many areas where more refinements are required. Such refinements may be obtained from results of research now underway or planned for the second five-year phase. Particular attention will be given to ever greater integration of remotely-sensed observations and steadily evolving agrometeorological methods, using, amongst others, the results of research on observations already collected, such as on the 53 test sites, and exploiting more fully the tools (literature, data banks, grey matter networks) established earlier by JRC. Further improvements may be obtained from feedback provided by users of parts or totals of the techniques, that may be transferred for application on a national scale. Such improvements will help to attain the goal of the project, that is the provision of techniques to serve a Common Agricultural Policy that aims to increase net revenue for farmers. [Termes IGN] système d'information agronomiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The present document describes the theoretical background of WOFOST. It has been prepared at the request of JRC by Iwan Supit on the basis of an earlier draft by Alex Hooijer. The editors have scanned the Fortran source code and scattered reports, books and articles, in particular the wealth of documents available from the Department of Theoretical Production Ecology of the Wageningen Agricultural University, the DLO-Winand Staring Centre (SC-DLO) and the Research Institute for Agrobiology and Soil Fertility (AB-DLO, formerly CABO). They selected what was applicable to WOFOST, and filled the gaps. This resulted in this more or less complete functional description of WOFOST Version 6.0, partly already published elsewhere by various authors. The motive to bring out this publication was that the original system description of WOFOST in the Simulation Monograph by van Keulen and Wolf (1986) does not cover the present model completely anymore, because of the inclusion of many new and more detailed process descriptions. The same applies to the WOFOST42 documentation by van Diepen et al (1988). This report is part of the software documentation of the CGMS and WOFOST. Other WOFOST documentation includes a user guide and a concise system description, to be published as SC-DLO Technical Documents, which are supplemented by documents on the Fortran Simulation Environment (FSE), the subroutine library TTUTIL, and the CABO weather documentation, all published by AB-DLO in the series "CABO-TT simulation reports". [Termes IGN] système d'information agronomiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Precise and up-to-date information on agricultural production is a vital component in running market economies. Such data are even more important where, as in the European Community, a common agricultural policy is one of the important aims. Considerable differences between European countries concerning agricultural production have led to a complex system of rules and subsidies which all rely on a certain level of precision of agricultural statistics.
Remote sensing seems to be the most promising technique for upgrading the agricultural statistics system. To obtain rapid improvements, while avoiding duplication of work and a diversity of methods, the Commission has set up a Pilot Project to introduce remote sensing into the European Community agricultural statistics system. The Joint Research Centre is in charge of this project, the objectives being defined according to the priorities of Directorate General VI - Agriculture, and the European Communities Statistical Office.
The first requirement is to distinguish, identify and measure the area of important crops. The second is to estimate production in good time so that decisions can be made. When these basic statistics are available, predictions of crop production can then be made.Note de contenu : 1. Introduction
