[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The weights-of-evidence model (a Bayesian probability model) was applied to the task of evaluating landslide susceptibility using GIS. Using landslide location and a spatial database containing information such as topography, soil, forest, geology, land cover and lineament, the weights-of-evidence model was applied to calculate each relevant factor's rating for the Boun area in Korea, which had suffered substantial landslide damage following heavy rain in 1998. In the topographic database, the factors were slope, aspect and curvature; in the soil database, they were soil texture, soil material, soil drainage, soil effective thickness and topographic type; in the forest map, they were forest type, timber diameter, timber age and forest density; lithology was derived from the geological database; land-use information came from Landsat TM satellite imagery; and lineament data from IRS satellite imagery. Tests of conditional independence were performed for the selection of factors, allowing 43 combinations of factors to be analysed. For the analysis of mapping landslide susceptibility, the contrast values, W+ and W-, of each factor's rating were overlaid spatially. The results of the analysis were validated using the previous landslide locations. The combination of slope, curvature, topography, timber diameter, geology and lineament showed the best results. The results can be used for hazard prevention and land-use planning. [Termes IGN] points homologuesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper is concerned with using linear features in aerial triangulation. Without loss of generality, the focus is on straight lines with the attempt to treat tie lines in the same fashion as tie points. The parameters of tie lines appear in the block adjustment like the tie points do. This requires a unique representation of lines in object space. We propose a four-parameter representation that also offers a meaningful stochastic interpretation of the line parameters. The proposed line representation lends itself to a parameterized form, allowing use of the collinearity model for expressing orientation and tie line parameters as a function of points measured on image lines. The paper describes in detail the derivation of the extended collinearity model and discusses the advantages of this new approach compared to the standard coplanarity model that is used in line photogrammetry. The intention of the paper is to make a contribution to feature-based aerial triangulation on the algorithmic level. [Termes IGN] processus stochastiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Reconstruction of the backscatter and extinction coefficients is a crucial step in many quantitative remote sensing applications, such as radar, light detection and ranging (lidar), and sonar. We present a novel stochastic filtering approach for the estimation of the backscatter and extinction coefficients from time-range elastic-backscatter lidar data. The Bayesian perspective is adopted; we take as prior a causal first-order autoregressive Gauss-Markov random field tailored to enforce smoothness on time and range dimensions. By using a reduced-order state-space representation of the prior, we derive a suboptimal stochastic filter that recursively computes the backscatter and extinction coefficients at each range-time inversion cell. The estimator is a kind of adaptive extended Kalman filter, being efficient from the computational point of view. A set of experiments illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach, namely its advantage over the classical Klett deterministic approach. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) An approach to simulating land-cover patterns based on historical landuse maps and forecasts based on models and planning documents is described and demonstrated. The approach uses stochastic spatial simulation to generate land-cover patterns on the basis of a land-use map and stated translation rules. The translation rules take the form of (1) a table that summarizes the proportions of each land-cover type within each land-use type and (2) a description of the spatial arrangement and/or pattern of land-cover types. In a demonstration of the approach, we calibrated the translation rules using aerial photo observations and simulated current and future land-cover maps for Livingston County, Michigan, USA. We tested the approach in a test area that was not used in calibrating the translation. The proportions of land cover within each land-use type were reasonably well estimated, except where the amount of the same land use was small in the calibration site. The use of location rules significantly improved the fit of estimated land-cover patterns with observed patterns for the test area. The paper discusses how the method can be used to bridge land-use scenarios and their ecological impacts based on landcover patterns.
