[Termes IGN] positionnement par GPSRésumé : (Editeur) A new software technology uses a Navigation Overlay Algorithm between GPS measurements and a GIS database that describes 2D footprints of buildings. The NAO uses measurements provided by GPS chipsets, functionally replacing the navigation engine. This software middleware is laid under the embedded navigation application, providing it with improved position fixes, resulting in an average improvement of cross-track errors by a factor of 3. [Termes IGN] vision stéréoscopiqueRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents an efficient technique for real time estimation of on-board stereo vision system pose. The whole process is performed in the Euclidean space and consists of two stages. Initially, a compact representation of the original 3D data points is computed. Then, a RANSAC based least squares approach is used for fitting a plane to the 3D road points. Fast RANSAC fitting is obtained by selecting points according to a probability distribution function that takes into account the density of points at a given depth. Finally, stereo camera position and orientation-pose-is computed relative to the road plane. The proposed technique is intended to be used on driver assistance systems for applications such as obstacle or pedestrian detection. A real time performance is reached. Experimental results on several environments and comparisons with a previous work are presented. [Termes IGN] système de numérisation mobileRésumé : (auteur) Zebra-crossings are very specific road features that are less generalized when imaged at different scales. We aim to use zebra-crossings as control objects for georeferencing the images provided by a Mobile Mapping System (MMS) using the oriented aerial images of the same area. In this paper, we present a full automatic method for 3D zebra-crossing reconstruction from our MMS calibrated stereo rig. In our image-based georeferencing context, reconstruction accuracy is a priority. The only assumption made is that each zebra-crossing band is supposed to be planar and to have an a priori known 3D width. The method consists in reconstructing the 3D edges using a sub-pixel edge matching process by dynamic programming. The detection step is run on all 3D edges around the estimated road plane by looking for parallel segment lines with specific distances. The accurate 3D plane of each band is then estimated from the points belonging to the two previously detected sides. The short sides of each band are detected on the image and are projected onto the 3D plane of the band. Our method is robust and provides promising results. We have a good geometric accuracy. [Termes IGN] simulationRésumé : (Auteur) Small-scale spatial events are situations in which elements or objects vary in such a way that temporal dynamics are intrinsic to their representation and explanation. Some of the clearest examples involve local movement, from conventional traffic modeling to disaster evacuation where congestion, crowding, panic, and related safety issues are key features. We propose that such events can be simulated using new variants of pedestrian model, which embody ideas about how behavior emerges from the accumulated interactions between small-scale objects. We present a model in which the event space is first explored by agents using 'swarm intelligence'. Armed with information about the space, agents then move in unobstructed fashion to the event. Congestion and problems over safety are then resolved through introducing controls in an iterative fashion, rerunning the model until a 'safe solution' is reached. The model has been developed to simulate the effect of changing the route of the Notting Hill Carnival, an annual event held in west central London over 2 days in August each year. One of the key issues in using such simulation is how the process of modeling interacts with those who manage and control the event. As such, this changes the nature of the modeling problem from one where control and optimization is external to the model to one where it is intrinsic to the simulation.
