[Termes IGN] niveau de gris (image)Résumé : (Auteur) This paper presents an image destriping system for correcting striping noise of remote-sensing images. The developed system identifies stripe positions based on edge-detection and line-tracing algorithms. Pixels not affected by striping are used as control points to construct cubic spline functions describing spatial gray level distributions of an image. Detected stripes are corrected by replacing the pixels with more reasonable gray values computed from constructed spline functions. Gray values of clean pixels not affected by stripes are not altered to preserve data genuineness. Several experimental results demonstrate that the developed system can correctly detect stripes in remote-sensing images and effectively repair them. Evaluations of the results based on an quantitative image quality index indicate that the image quality has been improved significantly after destriping. The destriped images are not only visually more plausible but also can provide better interpretability and are more suitable for computerized analysis. [Termes IGN] valeur radiométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) Elimination of displacement due to map editing inherent in road centerline data of the New Topographic map Information System (NTIS) is implemented. Panchromatic satellite images from ALOS/PRISM are used in the process. Histogram analysis of gray value profiles parallel to the roads is employed. The true-position candidate is selected by supervised classification of histograms using support vector machine (SVM) method. According to the experiments with the Japanese NTIS road centerline database, the proposed method reverses the displacement of approximately 50 % of the road features, while a further 20% of the road features are validated as already located at the true position. The proposed method is proved to be useful for German Amtliches Topographisch-Kartographisches InformationsSystem (ATKIS) road database. This indicates wider applicability of this method to various geographic regions. [Termes IGN] zone tropicale humideRésumé : (Auteur) Land-cover classification with remotely sensed data in moist tropical regions is a challenge due to the complex biophysical conditions. This paper explores techniques to improve land-cover classification accuracy through a comparative analysis of different combinations of spectral signatures and textures from Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) and Radarsat data. A wavelet-merging technique was used to integrate Landsat ETM+ multispectral and panchromatic data or Radarsat data. Grey-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) textures based on Landsat ETM+ panchromatic or Radarsat data and different sizes of moving windows were examined. A maximum-likelihood classifier was used to implement image classification for different combinations. This research indicates the important role of textures in improving land-cover classification accuracies in Amazonian environments. The incorporation of data fusion and textures increases classification accuracy by approximately 5.8-6.9% compared to Landsat ETM+ data, but data fusion of Landsat ETM+ multispectral and panchromatic data or Radarsat data cannot effectively improve land-cover classification accuracies.
