[Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) Event cameras are bio-inspired vision sensors that output pixel-level brightness changes instead of standard intensity frames. They offer significant advantages over standard cameras, namely a very high dynamic range, no motion blur, and a latency in the order of microseconds. However, because the output is composed of a sequence of asynchronous events rather than actual intensity images, traditional vision algorithms cannot be applied, so that a paradigm shift is needed. We introduce the problem of event-based multi-view stereo (EMVS) for event cameras and propose a solution to it. Unlike traditional MVS methods, which address the problem of estimating dense 3D structure from a set of known viewpoints, EMVS estimates semi-dense 3D structure from an event camera with known trajectory. Our EMVS solution elegantly exploits two inherent properties of an event camera: (1) its ability to respond to scene edges—which naturally provide semi-dense geometric information without any pre-processing operation—and (2) the fact that it provides continuous measurements as the sensor moves. Despite its simplicity (it can be implemented in a few lines of code), our algorithm is able to produce accurate, semi-dense depth maps, without requiring any explicit data association or intensity estimation. We successfully validate our method on both synthetic and real data. Our method is computationally very efficient and runs in real-time on a CPU. [Termes IGN] signal GNSSRésumé : (auteur) The positioning accuracy of single frequency precise point positioning (SFPPP) attributes mainly to the ionosphere error, which strongly affects GNSS signals. When GNSS signals pass through the various ionosphere layers, they will be bent and their speed will be changed due to dispersive nature of ionosphere. To correct the ionosphere error, it is common to use Klobuchar ionosphere model or Global Ionosphere Maps (GIM). However, Klobuchar can deal with only about 50% of the Ionosphere effect and global Ionosphere maps are often inadequate to describe detailed features of local ionosphere because of limited precision and resolution. In this paper, an enhanced local ionosphere model was developed relying on modeling of measurements from a dense Egyptian permanent tracking GNSS network in order to achieve high precision ionosphere delay correction. The performance of the developed enhanced Egyptian ionosphere model (EIM) was verified through multi-constellations SFPPP accuracy for static and kinematic modes. For static mode, 24 hours multi-constellations datasets collected at three selected stations, Alexandria, Cairo, and Aswan, in Egypt on February 27, 2017, to investigate the performance of the developed local ionospheric model in comparison with the Klobuchar, GIM and ionosphere free models. After session time of half an hour, the results show that the performance of static SFPPP based on the developed Egyptian ionospheric map (EIM) achieved a comparable accuracy WRT using ionosphere free model. While using EIM, achieved an improvements of (38%, 28%, and 42%) and (32%, 10%, and 37%) for accuracy of latitude, longitude, and altitude in comparison with using Klobuchar and GIM models, respectively For kinematic mode, datasets of 2 hours of observations with 1 second sampling rate were logged during vehicular test; the test was carried out on the ring road of the city of Cairo, Egypt, on September 16, 2017. After half an hour of kinematic SFPPP data-processing, the performance of using Egyptian ionospheric map (EIM) for ionosphere delay correction, achieved an improvements of three dimension coordinates of (83%, 47%, and 62%) and (57%, 65%, and 21%) with respect to using Klobuchar model and GIM model, respectively. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (auteur) There are many positioning methods based on the usage of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System). They are classified according to the accuracy they can achieve, the time needed to obtain fixed solutions and the concept of positioning - number of used receivers, type of measurement, type of GNSS system, etc. One of the most important ways to do this is PPP (Precise Point Positioning) method, primarily because of its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. The paper describes PPP positioning method, its advantages and limitations, as well as the errors that can occur. It also provides an analysis of the performance of PPP method - precision, convergence time, loss of data reception, repeatability of positioning results and accuracy based on three measurement series in duration of 4 hours each, conducted on different days. By comparing the obtained coordinates with reference ones determined by AUSPOS web service, it can be concluded that the difference between these two sets of coordinates varies from 1 cm to 7 cm, while the accuracy of measured height is lower and the difference varies from 7 cm to 20 cm. [Termes IGN] zone semi-arideRésumé : (auteur) Biomass estimation of eastern Mediterranean shrublands was investigated using PALSAR full- and dual-polarization L-band and Sentinel-1 dual-polarization C-band data. First, we conducted an empirical assessment of single and multiple regressions between polarized backscattering coefficients and shrubland biomass distribution along the climatic gradient between semiarid and arid regions. We then found that the PALSAR L-band HV-polarized backscattering coefficient has higher biomass information content than Sentinel-1 C-band data. Based on a theoretical volume scattering model and a semiempirical model, we propose a new polarimetric radar vegetation index (PRVI) that utilizes the degree of polarization and the cross-polarized backscattering coefficient. The relationship between the new index and the biomass was assessed with reference to normalized difference vegetation index-based biomass estimates calculated using Landsat imagery. The PRVI was found to have higher correlation with biomass compared with other radar polarization parameters, in general, and an existing radar vegetation index (RVI), in particular. Assessment of PRVI-based biomass predictions compared with allometric data extracted from air photographs, Lidar, and field data for 67 sites across the desert fringe zone indicated moderate performance with an RMSE of 0.329 kg/m 2 , while an RVI-based biomass estimation had an RMSE of 0.439 kg/m². [Termes IGN] teneur en eau de la végétationRésumé : (auteur) Polarization orientation angle (POA) is an important parameter of polarimetric radar scattering from slopes in mountainous region. It is known that surface tilted in azimuth direction and buildings not aligned in the along-track direction induce polarization orientation shifts. Earlier research has established orientation angle as a function of radar imaging geometry and surface slopes, and that POA estimation can be derived from polarimetric radar data using circular polarization. Besides these, polarimetric scattering from steep slopes and its relation to POA remain not well understood. In this paper, we address these issues by adopting a tilted surface model based on Bragg scattering. We have found that, as the azimuthal slope increases, |VV| decreases at a faster rate than |HH|, they become equal, when POA is ±45°, and |HH| > |VV| afterward. In other words, the Pauli component, |HH-VV| reduced to zero at POA = ± 45°, and the typical Bragg scattering characteristics of |VV| > |HH| does not apply when steep slope is present inducing |POA| > 45°. Furthermore, the cross-pol |HV| does not always increase with azimuth slope but also reaches a maximum then decreases to zero. In addition, we investigate the effect of soil moisture on polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) scattering characteristics of steep terrain and the effect of vegetation over surface on POA estimation. The latter is demonstrated with NASA/JPL TOPSAR L-band PolSAR data and C-band InSAR data. Another significance of this paper is that it provides a direct and rigorous derivation of POA equations.
