Within this thesis we reformulate the observation equations for all commonly applied satellite based positioning systems within the framework of general relativity. Let us start with the representation of the space-time metric with respect to a geocentric, Earth-fixed chart. The definition of geodetic observables on a curved space-time manifold follows. For this purpose one introduces the so called observation frames which can be tied to coordinate induced frames by the matrix of integrating factors. An explicit form of the matrix of integrating factors is given.
Since each measurement process consists of transmitting and receiving of electromagnetic signals which are influenced by the presence of the gravitational field and of a refractive-dispersive medium we reformulate the relation between signal travel time and the spatial coordinate distance. It can be shown that the equation of motion of an electromagnetic wave leads to the differential equation of a geodesic line.
On the basis of the improved physical model described above we have to derive observation equations leading to the well known form spatial coordinate distance plus additional model quantities for all commonly applied observation techniques like the time-difference technique, the phase-difference technique and the integrated Doppler-count. We investigate the quantitative influence of the relativistic model terms. Numerical calculations concerning the signal propagation in a refractive and disperive medium as well as the adjustment of a GPS data-set conclude this thesis.Numéro de notice : 28040 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Thèse étrangère Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=63387 Réservation

The derivation of GPS carrier observation equations can be found in many literatures. The main difference between the alternative derivation of carrier observation equations and many others is that no assumptions in the former are made on the stability of the satellite clock. In addition. the alternative derivation can show clearly what the carrier observable ambiguity consists of, so that one can understand exactly what is cancelled in single, double or triple differences of carrier observations.
In order to solve GPS observation equations, one needs to know the transmission time of the GPS signal which is usually determined by using iterations or code observations. Since using iterations is rather time consuming, one should try to avoid this approach, especially in real time GPS applications. This research shows by a real data set that as large as one millisecond gross error can be included in a code observation. Therefore using code observations to determine the travel time of the GPS signal will possibly lead to seriously biased results. In addition, the use of code observations leads to that the coefficients of linearized GPS observation equations are functions of code observations, which makes it difficult to correctly compute the covariance matrix of the estimates of unknowns.
This research proves that GPS observation equations can be expanded in Taylor series which contains only up to first-order derivative quantities. Since the expansion does not contain the travel time of the GPS signal, solving it requires neither iterations nor code observations for the determination of the transmission time of the GPS signal. The use of the Taylor expansion of GPS observation equations can, therefore, save computing time and avoid the impacts of any gross errors in code observations on computed observations. Thus the expansion is particularly useful for real time high precision GPS applications. Additionally, the Taylor expansion of GPS observation equations makes it possible to show explicitly the exact coefficients of linearized GPS observation equations.Numéro de notice : 18212 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Monographie Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=55352 Réservation

[Termes IGN] signal GPSRésumé : (Auteur) High precision relative GPS positioning is based on the very precise carrier phase measurements. In order to achieve high precision results within a short observation time span, the integer nature of the ambiguities has to be exploited. In this report the full procedure for parameter estimation based on the model of double difference GPS observations is reviewed, but the emphasis will be on the integer estirnation of the GPS double difference ambiguities. The LAMBDA method will be used for the integer estimation. LAMBDA stands for Least-squares AMBiguity Decorrelation Adjustment. By means of the Z-transformation, the ambiguities are decorrelated prior to the integer estimation. The integer minimization problem is then attacked by a discrete search over an ellipsoidal region, the ambiguity search ellipsoid. The shape and orientation of the ellipsoid are governed by the variance covariance matrix of the ambiguities. The decorrelation realizes an ellipsoid that is very much sphere-like. It can be searched through very efficiently. The size of the ellipsoid can be controlled prior to the search using the volume function. The volume gives an indication of the number of candidates contained in the ellipsoid. A request for only a few candidates can be made, and this enables a straightforward implementation of the search. A limited number of candidates will be output of which one is the integer least-squares estimate for the vector of ambiguities. The LAMBDA method provides, based on the float ambiguities and their variance covariance matrix, the integer least-squares estimate for the ambiguities. Therewith, the fixed solution can be computed. By the decorrelation, the integer estimation can be carried out very fast and efficiently. The total procedure typically takes 30 ms or less on a 486-66 MHz PC for a baseline with 12 ambiguities. The method has been introduced in [1]. Preliminary fast positioning results using the LAMBDA method are given in [8], [9] and [10]. In this report, the implementation aspects of the method are discussed. A detailed description of the method is given, as well as the algorithms in the stylized Matlab notation of [7].
