[Termes IGN] télédétection aérienneRésumé : (Auteur) Authors from a leading Chinese university describe how reflected GNSS signals can be used in sea-wind retrieval, seawater salinity detection, ice-layer density measurement and other remote sensing applications. They introduce the GNSS-R concept, demonstrate the characteristics of the GPS reflected signal, and describe their data-processing method for exploiting the reflected signals. The article includes test results from field trials gathering data over maritime and grassland areas. [Termes IGN] utilisateur civilRésumé : (Auteur) Many civil GNSS applications need secure, assured information for asset tracking, fleet management and the like. But there is also a growing demand for geosecurity location-based services such as hardware configuration and management, virtual site licenses, digital rights management and geofencing. Unfortunately, GNSS is vulnerable to malicious intrusion and spoofing. How can users be sure the information they receive is authentic? This article introduces a new method that uses hidden attributes fundamental to the GPS satellite broadcast — and cross-compared between two receivers — to authenticate signals and the location solutions they generate. [Termes IGN] signal GPSRésumé : (Auteur) On march 24 the modernization of GPS finally entered a new era. On that day, at 4:34, another GPS IIR-M satellite was launched from Cap Canaveral (USA), this time with the L5 demonstration payload on board. The L5 demonstration payload is needed to comply with international Telecommunication Union Requirements and will pave the way for the third generation of GPS. The start of the transmission for the new L5 signal was on april 10 around (UTC time). [Termes IGN] signal GPSRésumé : (Auteur) This month we bring you an extended interview with engineer Perdo Pedreira, executive director of the European Global Navigation Satellite System Supervisory Authority (GSA). Since July 2005, the body charged with managing the development phase of the much-troubled European Satellite navigation system Galileo, its anticipated economic benefits, in terms of revenue, employment and expanding markets, are many. Galileo is being funded by the EU taxpayer, so it is important that these benefits be realised.
