[Termes IGN] structure-from-motionRésumé : (Auteur) Three-dimensional (3D) documentation of heritage buildings has long employed both image-based and range-based techniques. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) provide a particular advantage for image-based techniques in acquiring aerial views, which are difficult to attain using classical terrestrial-based methods. The technological development of optical sensors and dense matching algorithms also complement existing photogrammetric workflows for the documentation of heritage objects. In this paper, fundamental concepts in photogrammetry and 3D reconstruction based on structure from motion (SfM) will be briefly reviewed. Two case studies were performed using two types of UAVs, one being a state-of-the-art platform dedicated to obtaining close-range images. Comparisons with laser scanning data were performed and several issues regarding the aerial triangulation and dense matching results were assessed. The results show that although the dense matching of these UAV images may generate centimetre-level precision, a further increase in precision is often hampered by the quality of the onboard sensor. [Termes IGN] photogrammétrie métrologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The combination of digital close-range photogrammetric systems and image processing techniques has been employed in structural health monitoring applications for more than 10 years. The use of off-the-shelf entry level digital single-lens reflex cameras has lately become a suitable choice even for applications requiring sub-millimetre- level precision especially when the involved devices need to be inexpensive. The drawback of such low-cost cameras is in the trade-off between spatial resolution, frame rate, and burst rate—at the highest available spatial resolution, a high frame rate is either not possible or it has a low burst rate. This may be problematic when monitoring a structural component during a dynamic/fatigue test. In order to estimate specimen motion in such a situation, this paper proposes an innovative sinusoidal fitting based on a least squares adjustment. This method simultaneously processes multiple bursts of data in order to synthetically increase the sampling frequency of the system. The input data for the adjustment comes from a full surface modelling procedure based on a newly proposed generalized 3D polynomial. The experimental results include a beam deformation test performed in a structures laboratory. The new sinusoidal fitting method effectively increased the system temporal resolution three-fold, which improved the precision of the derived parameters with up to two orders of magnitude. The root mean square error of the residuals were as good as 26 μm, and the one of the estimated amplitudes from the photogrammetric system versus a set of laser transducers used as control was as small as 43 μm. [Termes IGN] système d'extension spatialRésumé : (auteur) Current land administration systems mainly use 2D plans to define and secure ownership rights associated with properties in high-rise buildings. These 2D plans may not effectively communicate and manage the spatial complexity associated with multi-layered and stacked properties in such buildings; additionally, multiple pages of plans (representing sections of the building) are required to represent all ownership boundaries. In response, land administration organizations have been investigating a 3D digital approach to managing information about ownership rights in high-rise building structures. In this article, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is proposed as a feasible approach for managing land and property information in high-rise buildings. BIM provides a collaborative, digital and intelligent 3D data environment for managing building information throughout the lifecycle of buildings. However, there is currently no capacity in BIM for recording and representing information about ownership and boundaries of properties, which is core land administration information. Therefore, this article proposes an extension to the BIM standard, which is implemented in a prototype BIM model of a complex building to showcase the potential capability of using BIM for high-rise land administration and for modeling 3D ownership rights.
