[Termes IGN] station GNSSRésumé : (auteur) Precise point positioning is increasingly being used in geodetic applications that in many cases are based on static 24-hour RINEX files. Since there are many applications where sub-centimeter position accuracy is not required and users wish to use a single receiver and not be dependent on differential correction, we will evaluate PPP performance for static positioning with 12-, 6-, 3-, 1- and ½-h observations. We have, therefore, considered a dataset for the year 2013 from 14 European GNSS stations. The data were analyzed using GIPSY-OASIS II software package and evaluated in terms of repeatability of the coordinates and of coherence with the formal error indicated for each PPP solution. Particular attention was paid to solutions showing large discrepancies in coordinates. The test shows that PPP precision for the 24-h files is below 5 mm, but decreases slightly for the 12-, 6- and 3-h observation sets. For the 1-h and the ½-h RINEX files, precision is within 5 and 10 cm, respectively. The analysis is completed with a discussion on the impact of the ambiguity resolution that shows how it significantly improves only the easting component and moreover has a higher influence on the formal error rather than on the solutions. Lastly, the study contains an investigation into the reliability of the formal error associated with the PPP solutions. We show that the formal error can be used to identify incorrect solutions, but is not suitable to represent the real accuracy. For that reason, we propose to use the formal error given for the float solutions even for the ones with fixed ambiguities. [Termes IGN] précision millimétriqueRésumé : (Auteur) Results of long-term static GNSS observation processing adjustment prove that the often assumed “averaging multipath effect due to extended observation periods” does not actually apply. It is instead visible a bias that falsifies the coordinate estimation. The comparisons between the height difference measured with a geometrical precise leveling and the height difference provided by GNSS clearly verify the impact of the near-field multipath effect.
The aim of this paper is analysis the near-field interference effect with respect to the coordinate domain. We demonstrate that the way of antennas mounting during observation campaign (distance from nearest antennas) can cause visible changes in pseudo-kinematic precise point positioning results. GNSS measured height differences comparison revealed that bias of up to 3 mm can be noticed in Up component when some object (additional GNSS antenna) was placed in radiating near-field region of measuring antenna. Additionally, for both processing scenario (GPS and GPS/GLONASS) the scattering of results clearly increased when additional antenna crosses radiating near-field region of measuring antenna. It is especially true for big choke ring antennas. In short session (15, 30 min.) the standard deviation was about twice bigger in comparison to scenario without additional antenna. When we used typical surveying antennas (short near-field region radius) the effect is almost invisible. In this case it can be observed the standard deviation increase of about 20%. On the other hand we found that surveying antennas are generally characterized by lower accuracy than choke ring antennas. The current constellation comprises a total of 12 active satellites, four of them belonging to the first generation of In-Orbit Validation satellites, while the other eight are Full Operational Capability (FOC) satellites. Although the first pair of FOC satellites suffered from a launch anomaly resulting in an elliptical orbit, these satellites can be used for scientific applications without relevant limitations. The quality of broadcast orbits and clocks has significantly improved since the beginning of routine transmissions and has reached a signal-in-space range error of 30 cm. Precise orbit products generated by the scientific community achieve an accuracy of about 5 cm if appropriate models for the solar radiation pressure are applied. The latter is also important for an assessment of the clock stability as orbit errors are mapped to the apparent clock. Dual-frequency single point positioning with broadcast orbits and clocks of nine Galileo satellites that have so far been declared healthy already enables an accuracy at a few meters. Galileo-only precise point positioning approaches a precision of 2 cm in static mode using daily solutions. [Termes IGN] positionnement ponctuel précisRésumé : (auteur) We extend the application of real-time kinematic PPP to aerial triangulation using GPS to determine coordinates of the antenna installed on the airplane, using real-time satellite products from IGS and the CNES Analysis Center. In order to verify the performance of real-time kinematic PPP for aerial triangulation, three tests with varying aerial and ground conditions are assessed. Numerical results show that real-time kinematic PPP using IGS real-time products of 5-cm orbit accuracy and 0.1- to 0.3-ns clock precision can provide comparable accuracy for aerial photogrammetric mapping at the scale of 1:1000 as does post-mission kinematic PPP using IGS final products. Millimeter-to-centimeter-level differences and centimeter-to-2-decimeter differences are identified for horizontal and vertical coordinates of ground check points, respectively, in the three tests. The comparison between real-time IGS and CNES products for GPS positioning and aerial triangulation unveils that real-time products with a better clock precision can result in better performance of GPS real-time kinematic PPP as applied to aerial triangulation. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (auteur) Rapid initialization of real-time precise point positioning (PPP) has constantly been a difficult problem. Recent efforts through multi-GNSS and multi-frequency data, though beneficial indeed, have not proved sufficiently effective in reducing the initialization periods to far less than 10 min. Though this goal can be easily reached by introducing ionosphere corrections as accurate as a few centimeters, a dense reference network is required which is impractical for wide-area applications. Leveraging the latest development of GLONASS PPP ambiguity resolution (PPP-AR) technique, we propose a composite strategy, where simultaneous GPS and GLONASS dual-frequency PPP-AR is carried out, and herein, the reliability of partial AR improves dramatically. We used 14 days of data from a German network and divided them into hourly data to test this strategy. We found that the initialization periods were shortened drastically from over 25 min when only GPS data were processed to about 6 min when GPS and GLONASS PPP-AR were accomplished simultaneously. More encouragingly, over 50% of real-time PPP solutions could be initialized successfully within 5 min through our strategy, in contrast to only 4% when only GPS data were used. We expect that our strategy can provide a promising route to overcoming the difficulty of achieving PPP initializations within a few minutes.
