[Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) On April 1, 2013 IGS launched the real-time service providing products for Precise Point Positioning (PPP). The availability of real-time makes PPP a very powerful technique to process GNSS signals in real-time and opens a new PPP applications opportunities. There are still, however, some limitations of PPP, especially in the kinematic mode. A significant change in satellite geometry is required to efficiently de-correlate troposphere delay, receiver clock offset, and receiver height. In order to challenge PPP limitations, the GNSS-WARP (Wroclaw Algorithms for Real-time Positioning) software has been developed from scratch at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Science in Poland. This paper presents the GNSS-WARP software itself and some results of GNSS data analysis using PPP and PPP-RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) technique. The results of static and kinematic processing in GPS only and GPS + GLONASS mode with final and real-time products are presented. Software performance validation in postprocessing mode confirmed that the software can be considered as a state-ofthe- art software and used for further studies on PPP algorithm development. The real-time positioning test made it possible to assess the quality of real-time coordinates, which is a few millimeters for North, East, Up in static mode, a below decimeter in kinematic mode. The accuracy and precision of height estimates in kinematic mode were improved by constraining the solution with an external, near real-time troposphere model. The software also allows estimation of real-time ZTD, however, the obtained precision of 11.2 mm means that further improvements in the software, real-time products or processing strategy are required. [Termes IGN] surcharge océaniqueRésumé : (auteur) Precise Point Positioning (PPP) technique as an absolute positioning method requires modeling of effects that influence observations. One of the effects is a displacement of the measurement location due to ocean mass gravitational attraction - ocean tides loading (OTL). The model recommended by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) is FES2004. The paper focuses on impact of applying the particular OTL model on PPP processing. The analysis is based on processing of observations from 24 globally distributed permanent stations and time span of 50 days. The analysis bases on processing intervals from 1 to 24 hours. In addition, the amplitudes of the loads in Poland are evaluated. The OTL model is location dependent, thus the importance of applying this model depends on the location environment. As the PPP is an absolute method, the loads cumulate and transfer nearly directly to the positioning solution. Consequently, for short observation intervals and small loads the application of the model does not play an important role. For the analysed station with high amplitudes of the loads the relative and absolute improvement, of the solution was the highest for height component. By applying the model, the solution improved by 19% or 7.3 mm (as for RMS and 8 hour interval). The distinct improvement for convergence exists for vertical component and threshold below 5 cm. For Poland the vertical component loads were about 5 times smaller and the highest improvement for the analysed station was 3.7% for 4 hour interval and vertical component. Most previous efforts focus on the performance evaluation of post-processed GPS-derived PWV estimates using International GNSS Service (IGS) satellite products with at least 3-9-h latency. However, the suggested timeliness for meteorological nowcasting is 5-30 min. Therefore, the latency has limited the GPS-based PWV estimation in real-time meteorological nowcasting. The limitation has been overcome since April 2013 when IGS released real-time GPS orbit and clock products. This becomes the focus of this paper, which investigates real-time GPS precise point positioning (PPP)-based PWV estimation and its potential for rainfall monitoring and forecasting. [Termes IGN] teneur totale en électronsRésumé : (auteur) Zero-difference (ZD) ambiguity resolution (AR) reveals the potential to further improve the performance of precise point positioning (PPP). Traditionally, PPP AR is achieved by Melbourne–Wübbena and ionosphere-free combinations in which the ionosphere effect are removed. To exploit the ionosphere characteristics, PPP AR with L1 and L2 raw observable has also been developed recently. In this study, we apply this new approach in uncalibrated phase delay (UPD) generation and ZD AR and compare it with the traditional model. The raw observable processing strategy treats each ionosphere delay as an unknown parameter. In this manner, both a priori ionosphere correction model and its spatio-temporal correlation can be employed as constraints to improve the ambiguity resolution. However, theoretical analysis indicates that for the wide-lane (WL) UPD retrieved from L1/L2 ambiguities to benefit from this raw observable approach, high precision ionosphere correction of better than 0.7 total electron content unit (TECU) is essential. This conclusion is then confirmed with over 1 year data collected at about 360 stations. Firstly, both global and regional ionosphere model were generated and evaluated, the results of which demonstrated that, for large-scale ionosphere modeling, only an accuracy of 3.9 TECU can be achieved on average for the vertical delays, and this accuracy can be improved to about 0.64 TECU when dense network is involved. Based on these ionosphere products, WL/narrow-lane (NL) UPDs are then extracted with the raw observable model. The NL ambiguity reveals a better stability and consistency compared to traditional approach. Nonetheless, the WL ambiguity can be hardly improved even constrained with the high spatio-temporal resolution ionospheric corrections. By applying both these approaches in PPP-RTK, it is interesting to find that the traditional model is more efficient in AR as evidenced by the shorter time to first fix, while the three-dimensional positioning accuracy of the RAW model outperforms the combination model by about 7.9%. This reveals that, with the current ionosphere models, there is actually no optimal strategy for the dual-frequency ZD ambiguity resolution, and the combination approach and raw approach each has merits and demerits. Carrier-phase measurements have a precision on the order of two magnitudes (a factor of 100) better than that of pseudoranges. But there is a catch to the use of carrier-phase measurements: they are ambiguous by an integer multiple of one cycle. Processing algorithms must resolve the value of this ambiguity and ideally fix it at its correct integer value. Unfortunately, it is difficult to do this instantaneously, and often many epochs of measurements are needed for a position solution to converge to a sufficiently high accuracy, say better than 10 centimeters. Researchers are actively working on reducing the convergence time, and this month'column, we look at how using measurements from three satellite frequencies rather than just two can help.
