[Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents an investigation into the performance of real-time Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) Precise Point Positioning (PPP) in New Zealand. The motivation of the research is to evaluate the feasibility of using PPP technique and a satellite based augmentation system such as the Japanese Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) to deliver a real-time precise positioning solution in support of a nation-wide high accuracy GNSS positioning coverage in New Zealand. Two IGS real-time correction streams are evaluated alongside with the PPP correction messages transmitted by the QZSS satellite known as MDC1. MDC1 corrections stream is generated by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) using the Multi-GNSS Advanced Demonstration tool for Orbit and Clock Analysis (MADOCA) software and are currently transmitted in test mode by the QZSS satellite. The IGS real-time streams are the CLK9B real-time corrections stream generated by the French Centre National D’études Spatiales (CNES) using the PPP-Wizard software, and the CLK81 real-time corrections stream produced by GMV using their MagicGNSS software. GNSS data is collected from six New Zealand CORS stations operated by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) over a one-week period in 2015. GPS and GLONASS measurements are processed in a real-time PPP mode using the satellite orbit and clock corrections from the real-time streams. The results show that positioning accuracies of 6 cm in horizontal component and 15 cm in vertical component can be achieved in real-time PPP. The real-time GPS+GLONASS PPP solution required 30 minutes to converge to within 10 cm horizontal positioning accuracy. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) The single point positioning (SPP) mode has been widely used in many fields such as vehicle navigation, Geographic Information System and land surveying. For a long period, the SPP technology mainly relies on GPS system. With the recent revitalisation of the GLONASS constellation and two newly emerging constellations of BeiDou and Galileo, it is now feasible to investigate the performance of quad-constellation integrated SPP (QISPP) with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo measurements. As a satellite-based positioning technology, the QISPP is expected to improve the accuracy and availability of positioning solutions due to the increased number of visible satellites and the improved satellite sky distribution. In this study, a QISPP model is presented to simultaneously process observations from all four Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) constellations. Datasets collected at 47 globally distributed Multi-GNSS Experiment (MGEX) stations on two consecutive days and a kinematic experimental dataset are employed to fully assess the QISPP performance in terms of positioning accuracy and availability. Given that most navigation users are using single-frequency receivers, only the observations on a single frequency are utilised. The results indicate that the QISPP improves the positioning accuracy by an average of 16, 13 and 12% using the MGEX datasets, and 43, 31 and 51% using the kinematic experimental dataset over the GPS-only case in the east, north and up components, respectively. The availability of the QISPP solutions remains 100% even for a mask elevation angle of 40°, whereas it is only 37% for the GPS-only case. All these results are achieved using geodetic-type receivers and they are possibly optimistic for users who use navigation-type receivers. [Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (Auteur) Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) multipath reflectometry (MR) has emerged as a new technique that uses signals of opportunity broadcast by GNSS satellites and tracked by ground-based receivers to retrieve environmental variables such as snow depth. The technique is based on the simultaneous reception of direct or line-of-sight (LOS) transmissions and corresponding coherent surface reflections (non-LOS). Until recently, snow depth retrieval algorithms only used legacy and modernized GPS signals. Using multiple GNSS constellations for reflectometry would improve GNSS-MR applications by providing more observations from more satellites and independent signals (carrier frequencies and code modulations). We assess GPS and GLONASS for combined multi-GNSS-MR using simulations as well as field measurements. Synthetic observations for different signals indicated a lack of detectable interfrequency and intercode biases in GNSS-MR snow depth retrievals. Received signals from a GNSS station continuously operating in France for a two-winter period are used for experimental snow depth retrieval. We perform an internal validation of various GNSS signals against the proven GPS-L2-C signal, which was validated externally against in situ snow depth in previous studies. GLONASS observations required a more complex handling to account for topography because of its particular ground track repeatability. Signal intercomparison show an average correlation of 0.922 between different GPS snow depths and GPS-L2-CL, while GLONASS snow depth retrievals have an average correlation that exceeds 0.981. In terms of precision and accuracy, legacy GPS signals are worse, while GLONASS signals and modernized GPS signals are of comparable quality. Finally, we show how an optimal multi-GNSS combined daily snow depth time series can be formed employing variance factors with a ~59%-90% precision improvement compared to individual signal snow depth retrievals, resulting in snow depth retrieval with uncertainty of 1.3 cm. The developed combination strategy can also be applied for the European Galileo and the Chines BeiDou navigation systems. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (auteur) Rapid initialization of real-time precise point positioning (PPP) has constantly been a difficult problem. Recent efforts through multi-GNSS and multi-frequency data, though beneficial indeed, have not proved sufficiently effective in reducing the initialization periods to far less than 10 min. Though this goal can be easily reached by introducing ionosphere corrections as accurate as a few centimeters, a dense reference network is required which is impractical for wide-area applications. Leveraging the latest development of GLONASS PPP ambiguity resolution (PPP-AR) technique, we propose a composite strategy, where simultaneous GPS and GLONASS dual-frequency PPP-AR is carried out, and herein, the reliability of partial AR improves dramatically. We used 14 days of data from a German network and divided them into hourly data to test this strategy. We found that the initialization periods were shortened drastically from over 25 min when only GPS data were processed to about 6 min when GPS and GLONASS PPP-AR were accomplished simultaneously. More encouragingly, over 50% of real-time PPP solutions could be initialized successfully within 5 min through our strategy, in contrast to only 4% when only GPS data were used. We expect that our strategy can provide a promising route to overcoming the difficulty of achieving PPP initializations within a few minutes.
