[Termes IGN] télédétection électromagnétiqueRésumé : (Auteur) In spite of recent optimistic growth prognoses, the commercial success of earth observation is hindered primarily by the inability of satellite operators to generate and consequently to deliver in time the requested products and services to the customer. This however, is vital for th establishment of any kind of service. a potential customer will only change his internal procedures and infrastucture if the avaibility of the alternative products is guaranteed. Consequently, a commercially operated system must aim primarily at offering guaranteed avaibility of information. A satisfactory avaibility of information on large areas of interest when using optical sensors can only be achieved by minimizing the time between the individual revisits and providing sufficient capacity. This understanding led to the definition of the RapidEye concept and the RapidEye imaging system. [Termes IGN] XMLRésumé : (Auteur) The launch of OS MasterMap(tm) in november 2001 a quantum leap foward in the evolution of Ordnance Survey' s large-scale data of Great Britain. It is both a massive database and an online service, and it heralds a new era of sophiticated analysis in GIS applications. The new data is expected to create unprecedent opportunities to link digital map data with third party information, leading to a host of benefits for business and public bodies. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) Classification errors using texture are most likely associated with class edges, but investigators often avoid edges when evaluating textures for classification. The large window needed to produce a stable texture measure produce large edge effects. Small windows minimize edge effects, but often do not provide stable texture measures. Simulated data experiments showed that class separability increased when texture was used in addition to spectral information. Texture separability improved with larger windows. This improvement was over estimated when pixels were chosen away from class edges. Airborne Data Acquisition and Registration (ADAR) data showed that separability of class interiors improved with the addition of texture, but that, for the whole class, separability fell. Maximum-likelihood classification of the ADAR data demonstrated the effect of edges and multiple scales in reducing the accuracy of classification incorporating texture. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) There is a potentially strong demand for detailed 3D spatial data of urban areas. A groundbased laser range scanner is one of the promising devices to acquire range images of urban 3D objects. In this paper, the authors propose an automated registration method of multiple overlapping range images for the reconstruction of 3D urban objects. Registration is achieved in two steps, pairwise registration and multiple registration assuming that one rotating axis of a laser range scanner is almost vertical. At first, pairwise registration determines the approximate values of four transformation parameters, a horizontal rotation angle and three translation parameters of a pair of neighboring range images. Then through multiple registration, the transformation parameters of all range images are adjusted using the approximate values so as to minimize the total errors. An outdoor experiment was conducted registering 42 range images to construct a 3D model of a building on the campus of the University of Tokyo. The accuracy of the model was examined using a 1:500 scale digital map and GPS measured locations of the viewpoints. The efficiency and accuracy of the registration method is demonstrated in this paper.
