[Termes IGN] télémètre laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) Terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) data provide 3-D measurements of vegetation structure and have the potential to support the calibration and validation of satellite and airborne sensors. The increasing range of different commercial and scientific TLS instruments holds challenges for data and instrument interoperability. Using data from various TLS sources will be critical to upscale study areas or compare data. In this paper, we provide a general framework to compare the interoperability of TLS instruments. We compare three TLS instruments that are the same make and model, the RIEGL VZ-400. We compare the range accuracy and evaluate the manufacturer's radiometric calibration for the uncalibrated return intensities. Our results show that the range accuracy between instruments is comparable and within the manufacturer's specifications. This means that the spatial XYZ data of different instruments can be combined into a single data set. Our findings demonstrate that radiometric calibration is instrument specific and needs to be carried out for each instrument individually before including reflectance information in TLS analysis. We show that the residuals between the calibrated reflectance panels and the apparent reflectance measured by the instrument are greatest for highest reflectance panels (residuals ranging from 0.058 to 0.312). [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) To achieve a preservation and restoration of ecosystems, public environmental policies at the international level are fostering the implementation of Green Infrastructures, i.e. networks composed of areas where animal and vegetal species can live (habitat patches), and corridors to circulate between them. In France, defining existing habitat patches and corridors was ensured in a distributed manner by the Regions, the first subnational administrative level, with flexible guidelines. It resulted in very heterogeneous data in terms of level of detail, raising the question: “How to map such heterogeneous data at a supra-regional level, making them understandable while respecting the work of Regions, and with a reasonable amount of human work?”. Our study focuses on habitat patches of two adjacent Regions. After making a “rough” map directly from the provided data, we explore three ways for homogenizing the map. The first method consists in generalizing the more detailed data using simple morphologic operators. The second method consists in graphically refining the less detailed data by filling the areas with a pattern taken from the more detailed data. The third method consists in drastically changing the level of abstraction of the data on both regions, while rasterizing the space. Although it would be necessary to test the resulting maps on potential users, we think the third approach is probably the only one usable. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (éditeur) In the construction industry, business relationships are often short term and one-off. There are many unique processes and activities. The resulting complexity and fragmentation may obstruct quick and effective exchange and integration of information and thus hamper project progress. Building information modelling (BIM) is aimed at preventing mismatches in information exchange between the many stakeholders. Although BIM has come a long way in this respect, there are still challenges to overcome. [Termes IGN] visibilitéRésumé : (auteur) There are two existing multi-GNSS positioning methods, (1) separate receiver clock parameter is set for each constellation, (2) estimating intersystem biases (ISBs) in advance to obtain position solutions with only four unknowns. The former is the regular method and its unknowns include three receiver-coordinate parameters and several receiver clock parameters (depend on the number of participant constellations), so that it may disable when few satellites belonging to different GNSS are in view. The latter is one workable way to obtain position solution with only four visible satellites. In addition to the disabled regular method, the positioning results by the ISB-corrected method are often unsatisfactory for navigation users in signal-degraded environment. Both the deviation of ISB-solutions and the remaining measurement errors of the need corrected observations are factors to degrade location precision. Apart from these, fewer visible satellites usually cause a low robustness of the positioning model, which cause the negative influence of various errors is amplified. Based on the variation of various measurement errors, we propose a new ISSB-corrected method with observations corrected by corresponding satellite-dependent parameters. The new parameter contains the difference of time scales, hardware delays and uncorrected measurement errors between the corresponding satellite and reference, in other words, it can synthetically consider measurement errors and the ISB. By the ISSB-corrected method, we not only achieve positioning solutions with four satellites, but also significantly reduce the accuracy loss. Many experiments are conducted to present the superiority of the ISSB-corrected method. In open-area, the accuracies of regular and ISB-corrected methods are nearly equal. Apart from a similar accuracy in horizontal, the accuracy is improved by approximate 10% in up direction with respect to the two existing methods. Given the high redundancy of model in open-area, the new method may not improve the accuracy remarkably. However, it can make great contributions in signal-degraded environments. In order to compare the performance of ISB- and ISSB-corrected methods in environment with limited visible satellites, we simulate several scenarios (different satellites participant or various receivers) with only four participant satellites in the positioning solution. By the ISSB-corrected method, the 3D RMS of positioning results with four satellites is about 15 m, while it is usually worse than 25 m for the ISB-corrected method. In an urban vehicular test, the horizontal positioning error of the ISSB-corrected method is less than 20 m; and the ISB-corrected method may reach up to 70 m.
