[Termes IGN] traitement de données GNSSIndex. décimale : 30.61 Systèmes de Positionnement par Satellites du GNSS Résumé : (Auteur) Geodetic observations are usually processed by means of the Least Squares Method. However, this algorithm delivers reliable valuations of unknown parameters und associated accuracy measures only if the functional and stochastic models are appropriate. Observations using the Global Positioning System (GPS) are affected by various influences, e.g. by the atmosphere. Hence, it seems to be a reasonable conclusion that the commonly used stochastic model of GPS-observations with a scaled identity matrix with homoscedastic (i.e. equal variance) and uncorrelated errors is not adequate. The knowledge of the stochastic behaviour of GPS-observations can be improved by analyzing time series of residuals originating from Least Squares evaluation. Based on this analysis a procedure for modifying the covariance matrix of double-differenced GPS carrier-phase observations is presented. Essentially, it consists of two steps. At first individual variance functions for all double-difference observations depending on the satellite elevation for modifying the main diagonal of its covariance matrix are estimated. Secondly, temporal correlations are determined to adapt the other parts of the covariance matrix. All steps are verified by suitable statistical tests. The procedure is applied to extensive data sets with different characteristics. The results of the evaluation process, taking into account all realizations of the stochastic model mentioned above, are presented. It is shown that modifying the main diagonal of the covariance matrix with elevation-dependent variance functions leads to significant changes in the estimated ellipsoidal height of GPS-stations only for long baselines. The accuracy measures are not affected by this modification. In contrast to these results, considering temporal correlations in the covariance matrix of GPS-double difference observations causes distinct changes in the accuracy measures of all coordinate components independently of the baseline length. [Termes IGN] Wide Area Augmentation SystemIndex. décimale : 30.70 Navigation et positionnement Résumé : (Editeur) This authoritative work brings you a timely, unified analysis of the various satellite navigation technologies, applications, and services in operation or development, and of the challenges that lie ahead in this rapidly evolving field. It describes the segments, signal characteristics, performance, and securities aspects of the GPS system, including the advances anticipated in the next-generation GPS-III, and brings you up to speed on the developing European GALILEO system and its innovative characteristics, services, and potential. A look at ground-based and satellite-based augmentation systems (GBAS and SBAS) highlights their performance-improving features and how these systems may serve as connection rings between GPS and future networks like GALILEO. This definitive book examines the advanced architectures paving the way for the future integration of satellite navigation systems with wireless communications systems, including next-generation 4G wireless networks, and for interoperability among the different satellite navigation systems themselves. Yet unanswered questions about industry standardization, service issues, and legal and liability issues are also addressed in detail. Hundreds of references, illustrations, and an original layer-based overview of earth, sea, air, and space navigation systems round out this complete, forward-looking guide to satellite navigation technologies and services. First investigations are accomplished in sports sciences as well. However, most geodetic GPS equipment is too large and too heavy for attaching it at the athletes body. Using the potential of miniaturized electronics, a special GPS receiver for ski jumping was developed. The hardware could be integrated completely into a common jumping helmet. Striving to an ideal measurement system with no influence on the athlete activities only little adverse effects remain on the athletes using the GPS-helmet. The topography of jumping hills results in a more or less shadowing of the GPS satellite signals. Not all jumping hills are applicable for GPS measurements. Measurement campaigns need to be well planned considering satellite constellation issues. Centimeter accuracy requires successful integer ambiguity fixing. Common algorithms assume uninterrupted signal reception over a sufficient long time. But the 10-20 seconds for an attempt, take-off, flight and landing are not long enough. Thus a laser light barrier array was developed. It determines position and time of the GPS-helmet during athletes take-off from the ramp. This information enables the ambiguity fixing and enhances accuracy and reliability of the solution, even for short GPS measurement segments. The system was successfully tested during some training sessions of german ski jumpers. It was shown which informations can be derived from positions and velocities for several phases of a jump.
