When dealing with satellite time series or multi-source data, image co-registration is a time-consuming, but necessary, pre-processing step. This study shows how a medium resolution satellite multitemporal dataset can be effectively processed using automatic data processing. Results on real and transformed ASTER data showed that, without human interaction, the automatic ground control points extraction (AGE) technique, developed at Politecnico di Milano, is able to obtain accuracies generally sufficient for practical applications and similar to those reported in other studies. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) A large amount high-resolution satellite imagery (hrsi) has been available in the commercial market because of its value in creating accurate base maps for various applications. As massive amounts of HRSI are acquired globally by satellites with short revisit times, automated but accurate georegistration is still required despite advances in precise orbit tracking and estimation. Motivated by the attractive properties of airborne lidar data, such as their high resolu-tion and accuracy, this study proposes a new automated method for refining the HRSI with rational polynomial coefficients (RPCs) using airborne lidar information. By projecting the lidar intensity return into the HRSI space, the image matching complexity is reduced to a simple, 2D case. The true challenge is in overcoming the difference between the HRSI and the lidar intensity return to allow for reliable matching. To this end, this paper proposes a new method based on simple relative edge cross correlation (RECC) with a screening method to prevent false matching. To make the approach more robust, data snooping was added for a final detection of outliers. Experiments were performed using three Kompsat-2 images and the potential of the approach. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) We describe an approach for improving the robustness to misregistration of pixel-wise anomalous change detection (ACD) algorithms. The aim of ACD is to distinguish actual anomalous changes from the irrelevant incidental differences that occur throughout the scene. For such change detection to be effective, it is important that corresponding pixels in the two images of interest correspond to the same location in the scene. Indeed, one of the most confounding sources of incidental differences is the inevitable imprecision in the coregistration of the two images. We address this with small local adjustments to the coregistration which leads to a modified misregistration-insensitive measure of anomalousness. Several variants are considered, and the resulting performance improvements are evaluated using both real and simulated changes, and real and simulated misregistration. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents results on SAR interferometry for data acquired in the Terrain Observation by Progressive Scans (TOPS) imaging mode. The rationale to retrieve accurate interferometric products in this mode is expounded, emphasizing the critical step of coregistration. Due to the particularities of the TOPS mode, a high Doppler centroid is present at burst edges, demanding a very high azimuth coregistration performance. A coregistration accuracy of around one tenth of a pixel, as it is usually recommended for stripmap interferometric data, could result in large undesired azimuth phase ramps in each TOPS burst. This paper presents two approaches based on the spectral diversity technique to precisely estimate this coregistration offset with the required accuracy and evaluates their performance. The effect of squint at burst edges in terms of an undesired impulse response shift during focusing and the impact on the interferometric coregistration performance is also addressed. Repeat-pass TOPS data acquired experimentally by TerraSAR-X are used to validate the proposed approaches. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (Auteur) Accurate point matching is a critical and challenging process in feature-based image registration. In this paper, a simple and robust feature point matching algorithm, called Restricted Spatial Order Constraints (RSOC), is proposed to remove outliers for registering aerial images with monotonous backgrounds, similar patterns, low overlapping areas, and large affine transformation. In RSOC, both local structure and global information are considered. Based on adjacent spatial order, an affine invariant descriptor is defined, and point matching is formulated as an optimization problem. A graph matching method is used to solve it and yields two matched graphs with a minimum global transformation error. In order to eliminate dubious matches, a filtering strategy is designed. The strategy integrates two-way spatial order constraints and two decision criteria restrictions, i.e., the stability and accuracy of transformation error. Twenty-nine pairs of optical and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) aerial images are utilized to evaluate the performance. Compared with RANdom SAmple Consensus (RANSAC), Graph Transformation Matching (GTM), and Spatial Order Constraints (SOC), RSOC obtained the highest precision and stability.
