Additionally, it would also verify the effects of extreme temperature to reach more representative seasonal images. The study uses remote sensing data extracted from Landsat 5 and 8 (30 m resolution) and the Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infrared Imager LST products (SEVIRI 3 km resolution), in addition to LST-based measurements collected from the ground. The study presented a method to convert Landsat images to be estimated during local peaks in LST with an accuracy of: standard error of 1.7°C and an R of 0.82 in comparison with actual ground-based measurements. This allowed an investigation of the effects of time of day on the spatial and temporal variation of LST, where it was found that this factor has clearly affected the relationship between LST and urban land cover. Similarly, the time of day has caused differences in estimating LST change over several years. It is also found that the extreme values of temperature can affect the trend of LST temporal variation, and which can be minimized by using the images in the form of the average of seasonal images for each year rather than images being used in a standalone manner. This study contributes to the improved study of LST by minimizing the uncertainty that can occur because of the angle of the sun and associated factors such as shadows, which has long been a controversial issue among researches due to the lack of appropriate satellite data. [Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (auteur) Sensor-observed energy from adjacent pixels, known as the adjacency effect, influences land surface reflectivity retrieval accuracy in optical remote sensing. As the spatial resolution of thermal infrared (TIR) images increases, the adjacency effect may influence land surface temperature (LST) retrieval accuracy in TIR remote sensing. However, to our knowledge, few studies have focused on quantifying this adjacency effect on TIR measurements. In this study, a forward adjacency effect radiative transfer model (FAERTM) was developed to quantify the adjacency effect on high-spatial-resolution TIR measurements. The model was verified to be in good agreement with moderate resolution atmospheric transmission (MODTRAN) code, with a discrepancy 3 K in some cases. These findings indicate that the adjacency effect should be considered when retrieving LSTs from TIR measurements, at least in some specific conditions. The proposed FAERTM provides a useful model for quantifying and addressing the adjacency effect on TIR measurements Numéro de notice : A2019-600 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1109/TGRS.2019.2928525 Date de publication en ligne : 06/08/2019 En ligne : http://doi.org/10.1109/TGRS.2019.2928525 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=94599

[Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (Auteur) This study aims to develop an approach to characterize cropland drought conditions in El Salvador, Central America. The data were processed for 2016–2017 through three main steps: (1) reconstructing MODIS land-surface temperature (LST), (2) Landsat-MODIS data fusion and (3) drought delineation using the temperature vegetation dryness index (TVDI). The results of LST reconstruction using the random forests (RF) indicated the median RMSE value of 0.5 °C. The fusion results achieved from the STARFM compared with the reference Landsat data revealed close agreement with the correlation coefficient (r) values higher than 0.84. The TVDI results verified with that from the reference Landsat data indicated r values of 0.85 and 0.75 for 2016 and 2017, respectively. The larger very dry area was observed for the 2016 primera season due to prolonged droughts. Approximately 11.5% and 10.7% of croplands were, respectively, associated with very dry moisture condition in the 2016 and 2017 primera seasons. [Termes IGN] Toscane (Italie)Résumé : (auteur) The climate of a city influences the ways in which its outdoor spaces are used. Especially, public spaces intended for use by pedestrians and cyclists, such as parks, squares, residential and commercial streets, and foot and cycle paths will be used and enjoyed more frequently if they have a comfortable and healthy climate. Due to the predicted global temperature increase, urban climate is likely to become more uncomfortable, especially in summer when an increase in heat stress is expected. Urban forestry has been proposed as one approach for mitigating the human health consequences of increased temperature resulting from climate change. The aims of the current research were to (a) provide a transferable methodology useful for analyzing the effect of urban trees on surface temperature reduction, particularly in public spaces, and (b) provide high-resolution urban mapping for adaptation strategies to climate change based on green space projects. To achieve the established aims, we developed a methodology that uses multisource data: LiDAR data, high-resolution Landsat imagery, global climate model data from CMIP5 (IPPC Fifth Assessment), and data from meteorological stations. The proposed model can be a useful tool for validating the efficiency of design simulations of new green spaces for temperature mitigation. [Termes IGN] Wuhan (Chine)Résumé : (Auteur) The Urban heat island (UHI) effect is an increasingly serious problem in urban areas. Information on the driving forces of intra-urban temperature variation is crucial for ameliorating the urban thermal environment. Although prior studies have suggested that urban morphology (e.g., landscape pattern, land-use type) can significantly affect land surface temperature (LST), few studies have explored the comprehensive effect of 2D and 3D urban morphology on LST in different urban functional zones (UFZs), especially at a fine scale. Therefore, in this research, we investigated the relationship between 2D/3D urban morphology and summer daytime LST in Wuhan, a representative megacity in Central China, which is known for its extremely hot weather in summer, by adopting high-resolution remote sensing data and geographical information data. The “urban morphology” in this study consists of 2D urban morphological parameters, 3D urban morphological parameters, and UFZs. Our results show that: (1) The LST is significantly related to 2D and 3D urban morphological parameters, and the scattered distribution of buildings with high rise can facilitate the mitigation of LST. Although sky view factor (SVF) is an important measure of 3D urban geometry, its influence on LST is complicated and context-dependent. (2) Trees are the most influential factor in reducing LST, and the cooling efficiency mainly depends on their proportions. The fragmented and irregular distribution of grass/shrubs also plays a significant role in alleviating LST. (3) With respect to UFZs, the residential zone is the largest heat source, whereas the highest LST appears in commercial and industrial zones. (4) Results of the multivariate regression and variation partitioning indicate that the relative importance of 2D and 3D urban morphological parameters on LST varies among different UFZs and 2D morphology outperforms 3D morphology in LST modulation. The results are generally consistent in spring, summer and autumn. These findings can provide insights for urban planners and designers on how to mitigate the surface UHI (SUHI) effect via rational landscape design and urban management during summer daytime.
