[Termes IGN] visualisation cartographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Given the rising availability of alternative ways of spatial data mapping, there is a growing need to study their usability. An important aspect here is the diversity of the cartographic visualizations that are used to draw conclusions about the usability of various mapping techniques. In our study we evaluated the usability of six various mapping techniques used in presenting spatial accessibility, taking into consideration four components: effectiveness and efficiency (objective criteria) and graphical attractiveness and user-perceived effectiveness (subjective criteria). Using Internet questionnaires, we conducted a graphical perception experiment with respondents performing tasks on a hypothetical monocentric road network model displayed using mapping techniques of spatial accessibility, differing in the applied parameters of graphical and non-graphical factors influencing effectiveness and efficiency. The results showed that non-graphical factors had a greater influence than the graphical factors. In total usability comparison the three-dimensional (3D) point technique was ranked the highest, while the worst result was achieved by the 3D area technique. The proposed graphical form of study results made it possible to compare the influence of various effectiveness factors, to analyze mapping techniques in terms of considered criteria and finally to present their total usability using a chart inspired by Uhorczak’s typogram. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) The increasing demand for automated, cost-effective and time-efficient indoor modelling methods leads to a need for performance evaluation of these methods by assessing the quality of the reconstructed models. In this paper, we introduce a method for geometric comparison of a 3D indoor model with a reference, which is useful not only for evaluating the geometric quality of the model, but also for change detection and temporal analysis of the building. The method provides suitable criteria for the quantitative evaluation of the geometric quality in terms of completeness, correctness, and accuracy. Experimental evaluation on a synthetic dataset and the ISPRS benchmark dataset shows the potential of the proposed method for quantitative evaluation and localization of geometric errors in 3D models of indoor environments. [Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (Auteur) Processing of GNSS signals from more than one frequency band enhances the accuracy and integrity of a position solution in both standalone and differential positioning. The modern GPS program and newly launched GNSS systems such as GALILEO, BeiDou allow civilians to access signals from multiple frequencies in the L-band spectrum. While there are some advantages in triple-frequency processing in carrier phase applications, in general most of the standalone kinematic receivers get benefit from dual-frequency signals for ionosphere error correction. In implementing a dual-frequency receiver, it is necessary to select a combination of frequencies leading to an optimum performance of the existing civilian signals. In the current research work, we have analyzed the performance of dual-frequency receiver in terms of combined signal observation noise, sensitivity and robustness using analytical models by taking the combination of GPS L1, L2C and L5 signals as an example. Further, we have investigated the benefits of common Doppler estimate-based two-frequency signal tracking to reduce the noise in linear combination of observations. Through analytical and experimental results, it is confirmed that the L1/L5 signal combination in GPS system has low observation noise, which is suitable to use in high accuracy and precise positioning applications using standalone dual-frequency receiver. Further, it is shown that common Doppler estimate-based dual-frequency signal tracking has improved receiver tracking loop performance in terms of observation noise and multipath in linear combination of observations and enhanced receiver sensitivity and robustness. In GPS system, L1/L5 signals processed using common Doppler estimate-aided two-frequency signal tracking architecture, it is possible to effectively mitigate ionosphere delay and other receiver observation errors, to achieve less than 1 m position accuracy using unambiguous code phase observations. Proposed analysis is applicable of finding an optimal two-frequency signal combination in multi-frequency GNSS system and suitable signal processing architecture to obtain high accuracy and precise ionosphere-free position solution using code phase observations in standalone dual-frequency receiver. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) The main objective of this study was to develop and test a framework that can be used by Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operators with varying technical backgrounds to estimate the accuracy and reliability of multispectral (visible and Near-Infrared or NIR) sensor measurements. We evaluated the performance of two multispectral sensors – the MicaSense RedEdge and the Airinov MultiSpec 4C – in both a laboratory and field setting. In the laboratory, we measured the reflectance of a number of reference target materials using each UAS sensor, and compared the values to those measured using a calibrated spectrometer. We found a strong linear relationship between the measurements made by the MicaSense RedEdge and the spectrometer, while the relationship was much weaker for the Airinov MultiSpec 4C, particularly in the longer wavelength bands (red-edge and NIR). A sub-set of the target materials were selected as ground reference targets for three field calibration exercises. In field calibration assessment No. 1, imagery was collected using each UAS sensor and reflectance values were extracted from pixels covering the ground reference targets. The extracted values were compared to the reflectance values acquired in the laboratory, and both UAS sensors were found to over-estimate reflectance, with lower accuracy in red-edge and NIR bands. Field calibration assessment No. 2 involved a calculation of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) values at field control points using both UAS sensors, and we found a strong linear relationship between the NDVI values and measurements made by a hand-held NDVI sensor, suggesting that the calculation of a normalized band ratio (i.e., NDVI) effectively reduces the reflectance measurement inaccuracy that we observed previously. Field calibration assessment No. 3 included image acquisition of ground reference targets using the MicaSense RedEdge sensor over seventeen sequential field surveys. Results revealed measurement variability over time, suggesting that daily differences in solar illumination and atmospheric conditions may influence derived reflectance values. In light of these results, we propose simplified procedures that can be adopted by UAS operators to periodically assess the radiometric fidelity of their multispectral sensors.
