[Termes IGN] Trois Gorges, barrage desRésumé : (auteur) This study aims to investigate the application of a class-weighted algorithm combined with conventional machine learning model (logistic regression (LR)) and ensemble machine learning models (LightGBM and random forest (RF)) to the landslide susceptibility evaluation. Wanzhou section of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, China, frequently suffering numerous landslides, is chosen as an example. The class-weighted algorithm focuses on the class-imbalanced issue of landslide and non-landslide samples, and it can turn the class-imbalanced issue into a cost-sensitive machine learning by setting unequal weights for different classes, which contribute to improving the accuracy of landslide susceptibility evaluation. The landslide inventory database was produced by field investigation and remote sensing images derived from Google Earth. Of the 233 landslides in the inventory, 40% were used for validation, and the remaining 60% were used for training purposes. Twelve environmental parameters (elevation, slope, aspect, curvature, distance to river, NDVI, NDWI, rainfall, seismic intensity, land use, TRI, lithology) were treated as inputs of the models to produce a landslide susceptibility map (LSM). The AUC value, Balanced accuracy, and Geometric mean score were utilized to estimate the quality of models. The result shows that the weighted models (weighted logistic regression (WLR), weighted LightGBM (WLightGBM), weighted random forest (WRF) have higher AUC values, Balanced accuracy, and Geometric mean scores than those of unweighted methods, which demonstrates that the weighted models exhibit better than unweighted models, with the WRF model having the best performance. The landslide susceptibility map of the Wanzhou section displays that the high and very high landslide susceptibility zones are mainly distributed on both sides of the river. The insights from this research will be useful for ameliorating the landslide susceptibility mapping and the prevention and mitigation for the Wanzhou section. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) The Three Gorges Area (TGA), along the Yangtze River, China has been experiencing drastic land use and land cover (LU/LC) changes since the commencement of the construction of the Three Gorges Dam in 1994. These changes may have environmental impacts. However, information about the changes is limited and difficult to obtain. In this paper, optical satellite imagery is used to detect LU/LC changes during the study period 1987-2006 for the complicated, high-relief environment. A case study was conducted in Zigui County of Hubei Province within the TGA. A site-specific procedure using a decision rule-based classification method and a post classification change detection technique is developed to combine spectral and spatial knowledge in the classification of multi-temporal images. Using the decision rule-based classification method, overall accuracies of LU/LC maps of seven classes between 73.4% and 89.5% were obtained, increased by 4-5% over that using the traditional method. The results show that the main trend in LU/LC change in the study area throughout the monitoring period was a steady reduction in natural vegetation areas. About 32% of the total area of natural vegetation, including forest, shrub and grass, was lost to built up areas, crop fields and orchards. [Termes IGN] Trois Gorges, barrage desRésumé : (Auteur) The differential INSAR technique has the potential for monitoring centimeter-scale ground motion in an accurate and cost-effective manner. Probably the most important limiting factor in the application of INSAR is temporal change in the complex reflectivity of the ground surface during the period between radar acquisitions. This can be due to changes in such parameters as moisture content or vegetation. The stable artificial corner reflectors can be identified from long temporal series of interferometric SAR images even with large baselines, and therefore decrease the risk of image decorrelation. This paper will discuss the following questions: 1) how to obtain the true phase of a corner reflector in a SAR complex image; 2) how to co-register the corner reflector pixels when the coherence of its surrounding area is extremely low; 3) how to select the interpolation kernel to resample the SAR image; and, 4) how to compute the interferometric phase of two co-registered corner reflectors without flat earth term and corners' height contribution. In order to demonstrate the results, a practical example of landslide monitoring in the Three Gorges area in China is presented.
