[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, we present a novel framework for detecting individual trees in densely sampled 3D point cloud data acquired in urban areas. Given a 3D point cloud, the objective is to assign point-wise labels that are both class-aware and instance-aware, a task that is known as instance-level segmentation. To achieve this, our framework addresses two successive steps. The first step of our framework is given by the use of geometric features for a binary point-wise semantic classification with the objective of assigning semantic class labels to irregularly distributed 3D points, whereby the labels are defined as “tree points” and “other points”. The second step of our framework is given by a semantic segmentation with the objective of separating individual trees within the “tree points”. This is achieved by applying an efficient adaptation of the mean shift algorithm and a subsequent segment-based shape analysis relying on semantic rules to only retain plausible tree segments. We demonstrate the performance of our framework on a publicly available benchmark dataset, which has been acquired with a mobile mapping system in the city of Delft in the Netherlands. This dataset contains 10.13 M labeled 3D points among which 17.6 % are labeled as “tree points”. The derived results clearly reveal a semantic classification of high accuracy (up to 90.77 %) and an instance-level segmentation of high plausibility, while the simplicity, applicability and efficiency of the involved methods even allow applying the complete framework on a standard laptop computer with a reasonable processing time (less than 2.5 h) Numéro de notice : A2017-140 Affiliation des auteurs : LASTIG MATIS+Ext (2012-2019) Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.3390/rs9030277 Date de publication en ligne : 16/03/2017 En ligne : http://doi.org/10.3390/rs9030277 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=84614

[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Résumé) The research project SIMULTAN applies an advanced combination of geophysical, geodetic, and modelling techniques to gain a better understanding of the evolution and characteristics of sinkholes. Sinkholes are inherently related to surface deformation and, thus, of increasing societal relevance, especially in dense populated urban areas. One work package of SIMULTAN investigates an integrated approach to monitor sinkhole-related mass translations and surface deformations induced by salt dissolution. Datasets from identical and adjacent points are used for a consistent combination of geodetic and geophysical techniques. Monitoring networks are established in Hamburg and Bad Frankenhausen (Thuringia). Levelling surveys indicate subsidence rates of about 4–5 mm per year in the main subsidence areas of Bad Frankenhausen with a local maximum of 10 mm per year around the leaning church tower.
Here, the concept of combining geodetic and gravimetric techniques to monitor and characterise geological processes on and below the Earth's surface is exemplary discussed for the focus area Bad Frankenhausen. For the different methods (levelling, GNSS, relative/absolute gravimetry) stable network results at identical points are obtained by the first campaigns, i.e., the results are generally in agreement.

[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) Three-dimensional (3D) data from light detection and ranging (lidar) sensor have proven advantageous in the remote sensing domain for characterization of object structure and dimensions. Fusion-based approaches of lidar and aerial imagery also becoming popular. In this study, aerial color (RGB) imagery, along with co-registered airborne discrete lidar data were used to separate vegetation and buildings from other urban classes/cover-types, as a precursory step towards the assessment of urban forest biomass. Both spectral and structural features such as object height, distribution of surface normals from the lidar, and a novel vegetation metric derived from combined lidar and RGB imagery, referred to as the lidar-infused vegetation index (LDVI) were used in this classification method. The proposed algorithm was tested on different cityscape regions to verify its robustness. Results showed a good separation of buildings and vegetation from other urban classes with on average an overall classification accuracy of 92 percent, with a kappa statistic of 0.85. These results bode well for the operational fusion of lidar and RGB imagery, often flown on the same platform, towards improved characterization of the urban forest and built environments. Note de contenu : 1- La maquette numérique urbaine
