[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) Land use classification requires a significant amount of labeled data, which may be difficult and time consuming to obtain. On the other hand, without a sufficient number of training samples, conventional classifiers are unable to produce satisfactory classification results. This paper aims to overcome this issue by proposing a new model, TrCbrBoost, which uses old domain data to successfully train a classifier for mapping the land use types of target domain when new labeled data are unavailable. TrCbrBoost adopts a fuzzy CBR (Case Based Reasoning) model to estimate the land use probabilities for the target (new) domain, which are subsequently used to estimate the classifier performance. Source (old) domain samples are used to train the classifiers of a revised TrAdaBoost algorithm in which the weight of each sample is adjusted according to the classifier’s performance. This method is tested using time-series SPOT images for land use classification. Our experimental results indicate that TrCbrBoost is more effective than traditional classification models, provided that sufficient amount of old domain data is available. Under these conditions, the proposed method is 9.19% more accurate. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) To have sustainable management and proper decision-making, timely acquisition and analysis of surface features are necessary. Traditional pixel-based analysis is the popular way to extract different categories, but it is not comparable by the achievements that can be achieved through the object-based method that uses the additional characteristics of features in the process of classification. In this paper, three types of classification were used to classify SPOT 5 satellite image in mapping land cover; Support vector machine (SVM) pixel-based, SVM object-based and Decision Tree (DT) pixel-based classification. Normalised Difference Vegetation Index and the brightness value of two infrared bands (NIR and SWIR) were used in manually developed DT classification. The classification of the SVM (pixel based) was generated using the selected groups of pixels that represent the selected features. In addition, the SVM (object based) was implemented by using radial-based function kernel. The classified features were oil palm, rubber, urban area, soil, water and other vegetation. The study found that the overall classification of the DT was the lowest at 69.87% while those of SVM (pixel based) and SVM (object based) were 76.67 and 81.25%, respectively. [Termes IGN] Wuhan (Chine)Résumé : (auteur) China is facing the pressures of both rapid economic development and environmental protection, and land-use allocation optimization is an important way to manage the conflicts between these pressures and to achieve sustainable development. Optimization of land-use allocation is a nonlinear multiobjective spatial optimization problem, and a purely local simulation model or global optimization model is insufficient to solve it. It is essential to bridge the gap between the two models through the combination of top-down and bottom-up approaches. This study integrates a multiagent system (MAS) that simulates the behaviors of land-use stakeholders with regard to their choices of specific locations, with a genetic algorithm (GA) that simultaneously evaluates and optimizes land-use configurations to meet various regional development objectives. The model is expected to achieve the optimization of land use in terms of the composition and spatial configuration. Caidian District, Wuhan, China, was chosen as the study area to test the model in this paper. The results show that the performance of the coupled model is superior to a pure GA model or MAS model. The optimal configuration improves on the economic output, spatial compactness, and carbon storage of the current configuration and promotes sustainable regional land-use development from the local scale to the regional scale.
