[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Sensing urban spaces from multisource geospatial data is vital to understanding the transportation system in the urban context. However, the complexity of urban context and its indirect interaction with traffic flow deepen the difficulty of exploring their relationship. This study proposes a geo-semantic framework first to generate semantic representations of multi-hierarchical urban context and street-level traffic flow, and then investigate their mutual correlation and predictability using a novel semantic matching method. The results demonstrate that each street is associated with its multi-hierarchical spatial signatures of urban context and street-level temporal signatures of traffic flow. The correlation between urban context and traffic flow displays higher values after semantic matching than those in multi-hierarchies. Moreover, we found that utilizing traffic flow to predict urban context results in better accuracy than the reversed prediction. The results of signature analysis and relationship exploration can contribute to a deeper understanding of context-aware transportation research. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Cellular automata models are popular tools for exploring future land change pathways. But simulation modelling approaches often focus too narrowly on calibration against historic reference maps, limiting the diversity of possible outcomes. We argue that, contrary to what is commonly believed, there is no ‘best model’, and that model specification and calibration accuracy depend on the objective of the research. We propose a multi-model ensemble approach, in which a wide range of models and calibration rules sets are systematically tested against multiple metrics. We apply our approach to a case study in Spain. No single model performed well for all statistics, illustrating the danger of cherry-picking statistics for best performance. In our case study, accounting for historic land changes in model design was useful for simulating compact urban development, but limited the variability of simulation outcomes. The accessibility model driver improved urban pattern replication, while suitability without accessibility was useful for simulating low-density development encroaching on natural areas. Rather than abandoning calibrations that show low agreement with reference maps based on a small number of metrics we should seek to understand what each metric is telling us and use this information to enrich the diversity of simulated outcomes. [Termes IGN] voisinage (relation topologique)Résumé : (auteur) To examine the effects of historical land-use change and static land-use state on the modeling, we established three cellular automata (CA) models using the spatial autoregressive model (SAR). The models are CASAR-Cha based on the change data, CASAR-Sta based on the start-state data, and CASAR-End based on the end-state data. The models that considered five different neighborhood sizes (from 3 × 3 to 11 × 11) were applied to simulate the urban growth of Jiaxing, China from 2008 to 2018, and predict the urban scenario to the year 2048. All three models can accurately reproduce the urban growth from 2008 to 2018, and the CASAR-End model performed best in calibration and validation. The differences in historical land data did affect the spatial distribution of the simulated urban patterns. The neighborhood size has a significant impact on the model's allocation ability, yet the appropriate size depends on the unique landscape context being studied. The annual soil loss is estimated and categorized into five categories: very low (800 t/yr). Sakteng and Jaldakha basins contributed the highest soil loss rate of 0.04 and 0.039 t/ha/yr, while considering on landuse pattern, non-built-up and landslide category encountered the highest soil loss of 4.09 and 0.7 t/ha/yr among others. Similarly, Tsirang, Samtse and Haa contributed the major soil loss of 0.03, 0.0298 and 0.02 t/ha/yr, respectively. The research can be used as an authentic instrument enabling the soil conservationist and the policymakers to evaluate the adverse impacts, prioritize the conservation efforts and investigate further to narrow down the causes of soil erosion.
