[Termes IGN] système d'extension spatialRésumé : (Auteur) Linear features are represented on paper or digital maps with polyline geometries. Sampling, discretization, and generalization processes result in polylines of a length smaller than that of the actual features. In addition, semantics associated to the original line features may be lost. This becomes more significant for coarse sampling and/or high degree of generalization. This paper introduces a data structure that can alleviate this problem, by preserving the attributes and semantic characteristics associated to the original features in cartographic representation. The structure can handle both linear features and polygon outlines. Various compression methods have been examined. The structure has been implemented and tested with both synthetic and real datasets. Extensions to spatiotemporal features, like trajectories, have also been considered. [Termes IGN] modèle 3D de l'espace urbainRésumé : (Auteur) This article presents a classifier based on Support Vector Machines (SVMs), an advanced machine learning method for semantic enrichment of coarse 3D city models by deriving the building type. The information on the building type (detached building, terraced building, etc.) is essential for a variety of relevant applications of 3D city models like spatial marketing, real estate management and marketing, and for visualization. The derivation of the building type from coarse data (mainly 2D footprints, building heights and functions) seems impossible at first sight. However it succeeds by incorporating the spatial context of a building. Since the input data can be derived easily and at very low cost, this method is widely applicable. Nevertheless, as with all supervised learning algorithms, obtaining labelled training data is very time-consuming. Herewith, we provide a method which uses outlier detection and clustering methods to support users in efficiently and rapidly obtaining adequate training data. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) Spatial clustering is the process of grouping similar objects based on their distance, connectivity, or rel-ative density in space. It has been employed in the field of spatial analysis for years. In order to select the prop-er spatial clustering methods for geospatial information systems, we need to consider the characteristics of different clustering methods, relative to the objectives that we are trying to achieve. In this paper, we give a detailed discussion of different types of clustering methods from a data mining perspective. Analysis of the advantages and limitations of some classical clustering methods are given. Subsequently we discuss applying spatial clustering methods as part of geospatial information systems, with respect to distance functions, data models, non-spatial attributes and performance.
