[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) 3D indoor navigation in multi‐story buildings and under changing environments is still difficult to perform. 3D models of buildings are commonly not available or outdated. 3D point clouds turned out to be a very practical way to capture 3D interior spaces and provide a notion of an empty space. Therefore, pathfinding in point clouds is rapidly emerging. However, processing of raw point clouds can be very expensive, as these are semantically poor and unstructured data. In this article we present an innovative octree‐based approach for processing of 3D indoor point clouds for the purpose of multi‐story pathfinding. We semantically identify the construction elements, which are of importance for the indoor navigation of humans (i.e., floors, walls, stairs, and obstacles), and use these to delineate the available navigable space. To illustrate the usability of this approach, we applied it to real‐world data sets and computed paths considering user constraints. The structuring of the point cloud into an octree approximation improves the point cloud processing and provides a structure for the empty space of the point cloud. It is also helpful to compute paths sufficiently accurate in their consideration of the spatial complexity. The entire process is automatic and able to deal with a large number of multi‐story indoor environments. [Termes IGN] SQLRésumé : (Auteur) Shortest-path computation on graphs is one of the most well-studied problems in algorithmic theory. An aspect that has only recently attracted attention is the use of databases in combination with graph algorithms, so-called distance oracles, to compute shortest-path queries on large graphs. To this purpose, we propose a novel, efficient, pure-SQL framework for answering exact distance queries on large-scale graphs, implemented entirely on an open-source database engine. Our COLD framework (COmpressed Labels on the Database) can answer multiple distance queries (vertex-to-vertex, one-to-many, k-Nearest Neighbors, Reverse k-Nearest Neighbors, Reverse k-Farthest Neighbors and Top-k Range) not handled by previous methods, rendering it a complete database solution for a variety of practical large-scale graph applications. Our experimentation shows that COLD outperforms existing approaches (including popular graph databases) in terms of query time and efficiency, while requiring significantly less storage space than these methods. [Termes IGN] théorie des possibilitésRésumé : (Auteur) Trajectory data capture the traveling history of moving objects such as people or vehicles. With the proliferation of GPS and tracking technologies, huge volumes of trajectories are rapidly generated and collected. Under this, applications such as route recommendation and traveling behavior mining call for efficient trajectory retrieval. In this paper, we first focus on distance-to-points trajectory search; given a collection of trajectories and a set query points, the goal is to retrieve the top-k trajectories that pass as close as possible to all query points. We advance the state-of-the-art by combining existing approaches to a hybrid nearest neighbor-based method while also proposing an alternative, more efficient spatial range-based approach. Second, we investigate the continuous counterpart of distance-to-points trajectory search where the query is long-standing and the set of returned trajectories needs to be maintained whenever updates occur to the query and/or the data. Third, we propose and study two practical variants of distance-to-points trajectory search, which take into account the temporal characteristics of the searched trajectories. Through an extensive experimental analysis with real trajectory data, we show that our range-based approach outperforms previous methods by at least one order of magnitude for the snapshot and up to several times for the continuous version of the queries. [Termes IGN] trace GPSRésumé : (Auteur) Routing and navigation services for leisure activities are conditioned by special needs and trade-offs. The advent of online communities and large crowdsourced datasets offers opportunities to improve the adoption of a user’s perspective in these suggested paths. This paper focuses on achieving two goals. First, the presented methodology analyses a dataset of 190,610 historical GPS traces to gain insights into the appreciation or attractiveness of each edge in a real-world network for a specific leisure activity (i.e. road cycling). Second, as literature on these leisure activities is still sparse, we want to create a thorough understanding of the activities at hand for future work. An appreciation model is proposed and the spread of this score is analyzed in shortest-path alternatives of popular routing engines for this activity. This analysis successfully discriminates these shortest paths based on the scoring value and three morphological parameters of the path. However, the robustness of the model should be improved to ensure the viability of the proposed approach in future work. More specifically, further research on the local optimality of the route choices will be imperative.
