[Termes IGN] photogrammétrie numériqueRésumé : (Auteur) The generalization of digital terrain models (DTMs) is a tool of great potential for simultaneous cartographic and photogrammetry generation processes at different scales, the main object of which is to feed different geographic information systems (GIS). These GIS enable multi-scale analysis and visualization through different data bases. This research proposes a semi-automatic DTM generalization process conditioned by a series of predefined parameters resulting in the generation of hybrid DTMs at different scales starting from a single cloud of points obtained through large-scale massive data acquisition processes. The generalization results obtained, applied on different areas of different relief, offer specific application ranks for each parameter with great precision, in contrast with DTMs obtained directly in each scale. [Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (Auteur) This paper proposes a new type of point-pattern analytical method, Network-Based Variable-Distance Clumping Method (NT-VCM), to analyse the distribution pattern of point objects and phenomena observed on a network. It is an extension of Planar Variable-Distance Clumping Method (PL-VCM) that was previously defined for point pattern analysis in Euclidian space. The purpose for developing NT-VCM is to identify point agglomerations across different scales called multi-scale network-based clumps among distributed points along a network. The paper first defines a network-based clump as a set of points where all its elements are found within a certain shortest-path distance from at least one other element of the same set. It then proposes NT-VCM as a technique to extract statistically significant multi-scale clumps on a network. The paper also proposes an efficient algorithm for computing NT-VCM, which involves the use of the Voronoi diagram, the Delaunay diagram and the minimum spanning tree that are adapted and newly extended for the purpose of analysis on a network. A comparative study of NT-VCM and PL-VCM using commercial facility data reveals a notable difference in the location as well as the size of the significant multi-scale clumps detected in the both cases. Results from the empirical study confirm that NT-VCM accounts for the actual network distance between the points, thus providing a more accurate description of point agglomerations along the network than PL-VCM does. [Termes IGN] téléphonie mobileRésumé : (Auteur) Increasing use of geo-information in "smart phones" and PDAs has led to users being disoriented by map displays on small screens, while outdated maps, storage capacity and processing power further inhibit use. High-bandwidth wireless connections resolve some such limitations but map display remains an impediment to wider use. The authors describe research into dynamic presentation of maps at the desired level of detail. [Termes IGN] VMAPRésumé : (Auteur) Multi-VMap is a compact framework from which plane graphs representing geographic maps at different levels of detail can be extracted. Its main feature is that the scale of the extracted map can be variable through its domain, while each entity maintains consistent combinatorial relations with the rest of entities represented in the map. The model is based on a set of operators, called updates, which modify the level of detail in a small portion of a map. The set of updates is partially ordered and can therefore be represented as a Directed Acyclic Graph, which defines our multi-scale structure. An algorithm to extract a map at the required resolution is proposed, and a lower bound for the number of different maps which can be extracted from the model is given. The model supports map data processing operations (e.g., querying), as well as progressive and selective transmission of maps over a network.
