Field workers are known to conduct this process on-site to record properties about the object. These properties can be the location, species, height, and health of a tree as an example. To monitor cities, gathering such information on a large scale becomes challenging. With the abundance of imagery, adequate coverage of a city is achieved from different views provided by online mapping services (e.g., Google Maps and Street View, Mapillary). The availability of such imagery allows efficient creation and updating of inventories of street-side objects status by using computer vision methods such as object detection and multiple object tracking. This thesis aims at detecting and geo-localizing street-side objects, especially trees and street signs, from multiple views using novel deep learning methods. Note de contenu : 1- Introduction

[Vedettes matières IGN] Inventaire forestierRésumé : (auteur) National Forest Inventories (NFIs) play an important role in understanding the state of forests at the national and regional levels. Forest inventory for small territorial areas, such as municipalities, is also important for decision-makers. However, information is relatively limited at this level. As a result, developing small area estimation (SAE) approaches has gained increasing popularity in the field of forest inventory. It enables prediction of forest attributes for sub-populations using regression models based on auxiliary data commonly derived from remote sensing techniques. Previously, common sources of auxiliary data often came from satellite-based imagery (McRoberts et al. 2007), digital aerial photogrammetry (Breidenbach et al. 2018), and airborne laser scanning (Magnussen et al. 2014). NASA’s newly-launched Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) is a full waveform LiDAR instrument aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Its products consist of footprint measurements projected to cover 4% of the global land surface by the end of its mission (Dubayah et al. 2020). This will provide an unprecedented opportunity to systematically collect samples of forest information that can be used in SAE on a large scale. This study aims to explore the possibility of using GEDI auxiliary data to improve the precision of forest inventory for a large natural area in central France (Sologne), as well as for smaller sub-areas defined by French administrative boundaries (departments). The results showed that the precision of forest volume estimates was significantly improved at both the whole study area and individual department levels. [Termes IGN] tachéomètre électroniqueRésumé : (auteur) This article examines advances in interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) satellite measurement technologies to understand their relevance, utilization, and limitations for bridge monitoring. Waterloo Bridge is presented as a case study to explore how InSAR data sets can be combined with traditional measurement techniques including sensors installed on the bridge and automated total stations. A novel approach to InSAR bridge monitoring was adopted by the installation of physical reflectors at key points of structural interest on the bridge, in order to supplement the bridge’s own reflection characteristics and ensure that the InSAR measurements could be directly compared and combined with in situ measurements. The interpretation and integration of InSAR data sets with civil infrastructure data are more than a trivial task, and a discussion of uncertainty of measurement data is presented. Finally, a strategy for combining and interpreting varied data from multiple sources to provide useful insights into each of these methods is presented, outlining the practical applications of this data analysis to support wider monitoring strategies. [Termes IGN] transport collectifRésumé : (auteur) Accessibility is a representative indicator for evaluating the supply of bus system. Traditional studies have evaluated the accessibility from different aspects. Considering the interaction among land use, bus timetable arrangement and individual factors, a more holistic accessibility measurement is proposed to combine static and dynamic characteristics from multisource traffic data. The rationale of the proposed model is verified by a case study of bus system in Shenzhen, China, which is carried out to find the spatial and temporal discrepancy of service of bus system. It is found that the adjustment of bus schedule to time-varying travel demand can affect accessibility of bus system and that Land-use development, average bus speed and bus facilities all have positive effects on accessibility of bus system. These findings provide significant reference for transport planning and policy-making. The proposed model is not limited to accessibility measuring of bus system, but also applicable to other travel modes.
