[Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) Image registration is concerned with the problem of how to combine data and/or information from multiple sensors in order to achieve improved accuracies and better inference about the environment than could be attained through the use of a single sensor. Registration of imagery and information from multiple sources is essential for a variety of applications in remote sensing, medical diagnosis, computer vision, and pattern recognition. In general, an image registration methodology must deal with four issues. First, a decision has to be made regarding the choice of primitives for the registration procedure. The second issue is concerned with establishing the registration transformation function that mathematically relates geometric attributes of corresponding primitives. Then, a similarity measure should be devised to ensure the correspondence of conjugate primitives. Finally, a matching strategy has to be designed and implemented as a controlling framework that utilizes the primitives, the similarity measure, and the transformation function to solve the registration problem. This paper outlines a comprehensive investigation and implementation of the involved issues in a semi-automatic registration procedure capable of handling multi-source satellite imagery with varying geometric resolutions. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The next phase in GIS development on the internet should restore user freedom and give a fully comprehensive overview of geo-object originating anywhere and containing all relevant information. It should be fully integrated and freely applicable. The author envisages data from multiple resources integrated for process support by combining (geo) graphical and other (administrative) data using Web-technology. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) A Geographic Information System (GIS) populated with disparate data sources has multiple and différent representations of the same real-world object. Often, the type of information in these sources is différent, and combining them to generate one composite representation has many benefits. The first step in this conflation process is to identify the features in different sources that represent the same real-world entity. The matching process is not simple, since the identified features from different sources do not always match in their location, extent, and description. We present a new approach to matching GIS features from disparate sources. A graph theoretic approach is used to model the geographic context and to determine the matching features from multiple sources. Experiments on implementation of this approach demonstrate its viability. [Termes IGN] jeu de données localiséesRésumé : (Auteur) The integration of spatial datasets from different sources is becoming an increasingly important issue. It is very desirable to have a rigorous approach to integration, as an ad hoe approach can easily lead to incorrect inferences. This paper takes a formal approach, giving the beginnings of a logical semantics framework which allows meaning to be defined mathematically for spatial datasets which represent certain types of thematic map data. The basic idea is to interpret the datasets as summarizations of spatial variables, which are in turn interpreted as sets of possible worlds (ways the world could be). This semantics approach can give a formal meaning to pairs (or sets) of such datasets, which can then be used to determine the valid inferences from an integrated dataset.
